you complained about the offense a couple of times - they're not going to score every time they get the ball, but consistency that got them over 80 points (against NFL defenses, no matter where they rank in the league) is something impressive.Originally posted by pittstang5 View PostI was referring to that particular series by the offense.--

Yeah - so what! This is nothing new - I'm passionate on game day and complain when they don't score on every possession or when the defense doesn't have a three and out on every possession. I've been posting like that since I joined. Do I really expect them to score on every possession - Hell no! But I wish they would - so would everyone else in here. Posting like that is my way of a release instead of screaming at the TV and scaring half the neighborhood.Originally posted by Guiness View Postyou complained about the offense a couple of times - they're not going to score every time they get the ball, but consistency that got them over 80 points (against NFL defenses, no matter where they rank in the league) is something impressive.
You obviously needed someone to pick on. Hope you feel better. If you don't like the way I post, I believe there is an ignore button.

You were annoying before. Now you are showing that you have no class whatsoever. Wasn't ignoring you before, but now I will.Originally posted by GB-Brandon View PostWell, Maybe now Gute will go get a REAL RECEIVER!!!The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

40+ points each game, and neither was exactly a perfect game. We had opportunities to score even more than that.
And the D was a little better today, but it still wasn't what we got used to last season - and arguably the personnel is at least as good as last year.

I predicted 41-20 in the game week thread - a little off, I'll have to do better next week hahahahahaha.
As APB said, we ought to be able to cook the cap to keep Aaron Jones as well as Linsley and everybody's favorite, Bakhtiari, even Kevin King, maybe even Jamal Williams. As I have said so many times, the decision makers apparently didn't see the draft needs as nearly as much as what a lot of posters thought. I've heard it said, the reason we drafted Love was to motivate Rodgers. I don't exactly buy that, but it certainly has been the result. I also said we were already good at WR. I'll double down on that now. MVS will be a star in this league if he outgrows the drops. As it is, he is damn good. Lazard is solid too.
I hate all the throwing to TEs, especially Sternberger who I've hardly ever seen anything good from. If they must use the TEs, though, Tonyan should be the one.
Good job LaFleur of keeping the foot on the gas with a lead. That's a major difference from McCarthy.
I was beginning to drift toward the "fire Pettine" crowd, but he shaped up a little bit as the game went along. For a long time, I've said I wished they would use more zone coverage. Today, they apparently did - with good results.
I'm hoping they held out Kenny Clark today with the idea that they didn't much need him against the Lions, and he will be back ok against New Orleans. Ditto that with Davante Adams late in the game. He played ok and looked pretty normal after the injury, so there is good reason to hope.
They took the best shot of a fired up team, and went on to kick their ass. This is gonna be a great season.
I thought you hated Aaron Jones and running the ball?

I remember Jones & Williams rookie season they both seemed like nothings to me, at least in preseason. I forget exactly, but I think I thought the backs they replaced were better. Anyway, I remember Tex said they were both good and Jones was going to be special. I dismissed it as Tex's normal brain-dead homerism. But damned if Tex didn't call this one before anybody else had much love of Jones.Originally posted by Rutnstrut View PostI thought you hated Aaron Jones and running the ball?

I NEVER hated Aaron Jones. I celebrated the fact that we finally have a speed back - first since Ahman Green. And I still hate a run-first/run-dominated offense, but I always advocated running a change of pace/breaking some big ones when you get the D expecting passes. I still grumble sometimes when we run for 3 or 4 yards on first and second down and put pressure on the QB to save the series on 3rd down. Thankfully, it doesn't happen as often as with McCarthy or as often as I thought it would with LaFleur (what I mean when I say "subordinating his ego").What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Lacy started the season in a contract year, but wasn't in shape and went to IR pretty quickly. Starks started a few games, also got hurt. Montgomery finished the season and was the Packers leading rusher that year. I wouldn't say the backs Jones and Williams (and Mays, the third back they drafted) were replacing were any great shakes!Originally posted by Harlan Huckleby View PostI remember Jones & Williams rookie season they both seemed like nothings to me, at least in preseason. For the record I liked Williams a lot better the first two years when he and Jones were trading starts, and am happy he's become a solid second option.--
