  • He looked flustered, but he led two drives at the end of the game that gave us a shot. I'm not ready to write him off. He's gonna need more pepper though. I'll be happy to get Rodgers back next week.

This logic borders insanity to me; no frickin way I want him starting again this year. We had a golden opportunity against KC today

Rodgers pedigree/arm strength. Not really comparable IMO. I agree with you that we can't call the project quits. But I'm not going to lead the apology team either

        • Holy shit people take a deep breath. It's not time to throw Love on the fire just yet. Of course we want Arod as long as he is healthy and willing but you don't give up on a player after one performance...especially considering the circumstances. Packer fans are spoiled babies.

I would expect a similar path for Love, although you have to compensate to some extent for what COVID did to Love's development in his first year. Love did not get a full year of camp and training like Rodgers did in his first year. That absolutely hurt his development.

I think you give Love another off-season of training, and some more live bullet action next year, he would be ready to go in 2023 as a good starting QB.

Love's performance today was better than anything Rodgers did in his first 2 seasons in the NFL.
I guess what I am saying is it's not really comparable what happened 20 years ago. It was a unique situation having a guy sit that long then, and it still is now. Love had all week to get himself ready and be prepared, where as Rodgers didn't have that luxury when he went in and played.

I think more time will for sure help and give him a better chance of being a player, but I think two years is pretty much the same thing as three. If he's not ready by the end of this year, will he ever be ready? I am not so sure. I recall Phillip Rivers saying it was BS sitting behind Brees for a year or two and he was ready to rock and roll from Day 1.

It seems like most players that can play in today's world can do it relatively early. See Brady 2.0 in NE, that boy in San Diego, and a few others. I just kind of think we'd here more about the "wow factor" in practice if he had it.

I'm not so sure this is true. He was playing today against a badly depleted D, and he also got lucky on several ill-advised throw that coulda/shoulda been picks.

Even if you throw out the idea that his arm/throwing accuracy is questionable, you still have the idea that he doesn't have nearly the good sense and discipline he should have learned from watching the GOAT for nearly a season and a half. I think the mediocrity we saw today could easily get worse if/when he plays more games against teams with better pass D.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

              • He can sit for another year. He might yet improve. I'd say it's still about 50/50 whether he becomes a worthwhile starter. Not really worth worrying about at this point (from a fan perspective). Rodgers is the guy.

                • I don't want to hear that "another year" talk hahahaha. Try another 3-5 years, maybe 7-10 years of Rodgers. If Love plays in "another year", it better be for another team.

                  • It takes two to tango. Rodgers will have to want to return. If he doesn't, we're on the Love Boat in 2022 and not seeing him again before then is just fine by me.

                    • Seems like we've covered this ground hahahaha. Based on what he has said, it sure seems like he does want to.

If it's the Love Boat in '22, the Packers will be sailing right down the drain.

                      • I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'd be absolutely shocked if AR plays beyond the remainder of this year in GB. It is my impression he's moving on from this team and Packer fans better be ready for a new reality that the Bears have been living in since 1985.

If anyone can point to a considerable body of play in Rodgers first two years in the league that were any better than what Love showed yesterday, please do so.

I'll save you the time. There isn't any. Rodgers sucked massive donkey balls in his first two years. He looked like horse shit. Fans back then were reacting the EXACT SAME WAY as many of you are now, claiming that Thompson was a delusional idiot for wasting that draft pick and that we shouldn't waste time on developing him. He was one of those "Tedford" QBs who never panned out in the NFL.

I'm not saying Love will ever be comparable to Rodgers, but this revisionist history that Rodgers was some wunderkind when he rolled into GB is flat out wrong. Rodgers struggled mightily in his first two years, and he didn't have to worry about trying to learn the professional game in the middle of a fucking pandemic that has turned the whole world on its ear. Love did not look ready yesterday. Neither did Rodgers for quite awhile. We need to see far more of Love before we write him off...although I'm certainly in agreement we don't need to see any more of him this year unless we are up by 28 in the 4th quarter.
It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

The odds are against Love being the Packers 3rd consecutive Packers HOF QB. But the odds are also against the Packers approaching the Bears level of futility at finding a quality QB. There is an ocean or two between those 2 extremes.

I've maintained it was a stupid draft pick by Gutebag due to the "timing" and the trade up, or a combo of the 2
I still think Jordan love can be a marginal starting QB in the NFL. Nothing from the other day sways me one way or the other.

I'll add this though. Today many QB's are way more NFL ready than QB's were 20 years ago. Unlike those QB's, the Love Machine is a developmental in progress that is far from ready
