Love a Top 10 QB according to 50 coaches and executives, from The Athletic. He's one spot behind Jared Goff?! One in front of Caleb Williams.
And one spot behind Drake Maye (he's tied with Goff). Which is recency bias.

Bobble, if they'd have traded Love for those three firsts, and been able to sign Willis to a cheaper contract, I would have been on board. So I don't completely disagree with you. It's just that I saying you could get three firsts isn't the same as having an offer on the table for three firsts. I also have read that getting out of that contract in a trade would have cost the Packers a lot in terms of salary cap. So there we do disagree.

Remember, my thesis was never that Love was bad. I just felt Willis was way cheaper, offered more running, and MiLF called a better game with him. I thought we could have a slight downgrade and pick up 3 firsts and salary cap relief in the process.Originally posted by George Cumby View Post
I'm feeling pretty Homerish, these days. I think you have a real shot at eating your words. No snark intended.
Love is entering his prime, with top shelf weapons, the D has the potential to be very good to great.
Obviously there's questions, OL and injuries. But the window is wide open and this schedule is very favorable.

I'm pretty bullish on this team. Pretty good combination of youth and experience. I think with almost every position group, there is more reason to think they'll be somewhat better than there is to think they'll be worse. The biggest concern is whether, with Parsons out (4-8 weeks), they'll be able to create enough pass rush to protect the CB's. Valentine and Nixon really got exposed with Parsons out last year. Buit even at CB, with the drafting of Cisse and signing of St. Juste, I think they're raised the talent level.Originally posted by George Cumby View Post

Stumbled onto this one. I know its history now, but I was arguing to trade Love and extend Willis late last year. I said he could net 3 firsts. Apparently at least one pundit agrees (to be honest I think he would net even a little bit more than that as a franchise QB).
Hopefully Mr. Love makes me regret ever even contemplating letting him go and shoves a Lombardi trophy in my face as the final stamp.

I think Belton and Burton might have some of that in them. I don't really think Morgan and Tom do. Not sure about Banks and Rhyan. The bigger question though might be what MLF wants. What would he do if a guy gets a 15 yard penalty after coming to Love's defense?

I don't think they need to clear off a pile or late hit anyone. But anyone gets too close to Love late should get tied up in a scrum. Make them make a dumb move.Originally posted by Joemailman View Post

Well, you always need to run more effectively. That said we need someone like Frank Winters to swan dive the knee of the next guy that takes a cheap head shot at Love's noggin. Love clearly has all the tools. I wish he were a little more mobile as the best of the best in this league right now are both mobile and make all the throws. He is paid like a top 5 guy. He needs to perform like a top 5 guy if this team wants to run the playoffs.

Better O line will help immensely. My fear is that La Fleur sees that list and thinks he just needs to run more effectively.

Potentially.
He's improved every year as a starter. He makes throws very few other in the league can make.
He was two dropped balls from tearing the Bares hearts out last WC.
His demeanor is very cool. Maybe too cool at times.
He needs some more support. I think the horses are there, they just need to help him out.
I think the league and the fans are in denial that the Packers have hit a third time.
Injuries are my biggest concern.

I think we have a solid QB for the future. Good enough to win a title, after all Sam Darnold did. But not elite like our last two QB's.
Three years from now it will be interesting to see if he's he's the best QB in our division
