  • Joe Barely!

I don't think anyone's missing him. Even if the Iggles put up forty on Half-assley's new defense, we can all say, "Well, Joe coulda done that, too!"

I think most analysts thought AJJ was supposed to drop back and help Savage on that coverage. IIRC Savage was trailing Kittle in coverage and it was a good throw. AJJ playing deep instead of heading towards the flat probably forces Purdy to look elsewhere than the TD shot.

That said, Savage was a bad fit for Barry's D. Some (including JAX) think he can play in the slot, although his metrics in the slot don't support that. You'd think he'd be better closer to the LOS and on a Robber role, but his tackling isn't great. Incredible athlete who just couldn't put it all together. Maybe he can for JAX, but I suspect he is what he is at this point.

If Douglas had still been there, it would have changed how much the CBs played, but not Savage.
Agree. You can't really have a lot of freelancing at S. Ultimately I'm not sure trading Rasul made much difference in how the season ended. He's done well in BUF, but his speed was always iffy and you wonder how long before that goes on him, and he's just a slow gambling CB.

          Bobble's obsession with him.

A slow gambling CB? Sounds like a retarded trucker, good buddy.

Just a new article that appeared on lombardiave.com. I posted it with the comment. Rasul was our best CB when we traded him. He was good for the bills. And I know that Barry didn't use him as a safety, but it was discussed before the season and should have happened. He is a game film junkie and would be elite at S. But not many teams take a really good CB and move him to Safety. Just like they aren't moving Tom from RT even with a gaping hole at RG.

              • Bobble, there may be a hole at right guard. I wouldn’t be so sure of it though.

                • Almost a year after trading Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills, the decision keeps looking worse for the Green Bay Packers.
