Brown spent the night in the hospital and was released from the facility Sunday morning, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

EAGAN, Minn. -- The status of J.J. McCarthy is in question after tests revealed the Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback has a tear in the meniscus of his right knee, with a final determination to be made once he undergoes surgery this week.

I hope for his sake they do the sew-and-heal version, rather than the cut-away-the-tear, which has a speedier recovery time.

They can’t possibly be in a hurry with him.

You'd like to think not, but they do have a ticking clock with Jefferson and no real hope of anything with Darnold.

The repair as opposed to the resurface has a higher chance of being reinjured, but better quality of life/performance if you avoid reinjury. As you said, the recovery is considerably longer.

The resurface has a faster recovery and isn't likely to result in a repeat tear, but can lead to swelling and discomfort and might speed overall knee degredation. Depends on the person.

They'll sit McCarthy until their Week 6 bye, then start him. Unless Darnold is hurt or an absolute dumpster fire. I think Darnold will be meh - he's got a decent OL and good skill players (Jonesy, Hockenson, JJ, the crazy driver) and KOC is a decent coach. It's a good setup for him. The owners and fans will push for a QB change, especially as the defense falters and Darnold can't do enough to keep them in games.

Jefferson signed that big deal, he's fine.

                    Out for season per espn.

                    Vikings:

                    -Rookie CB dies
                    -Starting WR gets a DUI
-Starting CB tears ACL first day of practice
-Other starting CB gets hurt second day of practice
-First round rookie QB tears meniscus

This is just the last five weeks…

Damn you are right. Seems like all the bad offseason shit just happened to one team.

What about Aiyuk told sign this shit or you’re going to the Steelers?

How’s a knee scope lead to put for year when it’s august?? Seems like there’s more to that story.

A-aron tears an Achilles in Sept and was probably game ready if Jets were in contention. And he’s 40…

I read that with a meniscus tear that are 2 different procedures that can be done. One is fairly minor but the other involves a multi-month recovery.

If they put him on the IR before final cuts, they have to either release with injury settlement (not happening) or he's out for the year. You can find out on the transaction wire if he's playing in '24 or not.

The NFL made a change to the rule. Teams can designate 2 players for return on the day of final cuts but before the final cuts are made. The players must still be inactive 4 games.
