I've said for years, probably decades, the Cowboys are my second favorite team. And it ain't just because I live in Texas. Back when there was war between the NFL and the AFL, and there were two teams in Dallas (I was still in Wisconsin in those days), I rooted for the Cowboys to squash Lamar Hunt's Dallas Texans - which of course, they did and forced them to run off to K.C. As for Jerry Jones and son, he/they are better GMs than just about any team in the league has.

Ah damn, now I can’t defend you when you accused of being blind! No fucking way is jerry a good GM. Owner yes when he sticks to the owner stuff which he doesn’t. He just goes for big splash players and thinks it’s the 90s when big money could get you there.
You have always said Rastak this Rastak that he shouldn’t even be here, etc. But now that I think about it being a cowboys fans is about as bad! It might be the only thing you are wish washy on man. Pledge loyalty only to the Packers only!! Do it for you, do it for good, and for normal because two teams is not normal!

You KNOW I never have and never will put any team including the Cowboys ahead of the Packers, but what's wrong with having a second favorite? I think we had this discussion before, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
And as for Jones, he's made more smart moves and less dumb moves than pretty much any GM in the league. Look at their record over the decades. I wish our GM had found the kicker that old Jerry found. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Jones had early success obviously. But in the last 28 years, they are 5-13 in the playoffs. He's not the worst GM, but a lot of GM's have done better.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostYou KNOW I never have and never will put any team including the Cowboys ahead of the Packers, but what's wrong with having a second favorite? As I've said many many times, in any context, fuck the playoffs. I'll take winning massively overall anytime.
And yeah, I guess my second favorite, over the Cowboys, over whoever is playing the Bears (or Vikings) is ......... (drumroll): whoever is playing against the team the Packers most need to lose at any given time. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Mild disagree. I can think of several GMs who have done at least as good if not better. Gute, for instance. Ozzie Newsome/Eric DeCosta. Probably John Lynch.made more smart moves and less dumb moves than pretty much any GM in the league.
Jerrah & son being a great GM is a little iffy: I'd bet you could go thru their drafts, FA etc. and nitpick. Also, the ongoing contract drama with Dak and CeeDee. They have plenty of fires to put out, I'm not sure that makes them better than any other GM.
Drafting Micah Parsons was great, but they had a crappy year to be in a position to draft him.
What they aren't - anymore - is a laughingstock like they used to be. It's taken time, but they've gotten smarter/better since the 90's. If they weren't the owners, they'd have fired themselves by now.
The other thing is, compared to former owner WAS Dan Snyder they look positively great.

You can’t be in two gangs, it doesn’t work that way. It makes me feel dirty to even think about it so hell yes it is wrong and even offensive! Seems like most here dislike their local area team, like Fritz (lions) or me (49ers). Like good normal American football fans. I think Bretsky roots for other teams and you don’t want to stoop to his level. That guy is pretty fucking scandalous!Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostYou KNOW I never have and never will put any team including the Cowboys ahead of the Packers, but what's wrong with having a second favorite? Damn you put ole Jerry on a high pedestal. He is better than the Packers GM because he lucked out on a kicker?? I don’t normally type this but bahahahahwahaha! You are talking about the GM who drafted Prescott and worse paid him stupid money versus the GM the picked Love??
Their record over the last decade is 3 playoff wins and 5 embarrassing Ls. Packers are 12-10 in that same decade. I know you don’t care about playoffs and Super Bowls but that’s kinda the point of even playing.

The fact that they've missed the playoffs 15 of the last 28 years means they haven't been that great in the regular season. Kind of average really.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostAs I've said many many times, in any context, fuck the playoffs. I'll take winning massively overall anytime.

I'm not gonna waste time and energy trying to recall Cowboy successes in drafting, signing, etc. , although getting Dak in the 4th round oughta count for something. Somebody cited a few of the all time best GMs, and yeah, I wouldn't put Jerry Jones above them. But as an owner - basically shelling out his own money as he sees fit, all I can say is if I was a billionaire team owner, I'd probably do it that way too. And regardless of all the critcism by media assholes, etc., his team is right there with the Packers and maybe two or three others as the best in the league most of the time.Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostYou can’t be in two gangs, it doesn’t work that way. And to me, the point of being a fan is basically winning. Going 15-1 was probably the best season I can remember. Lose in the playoffs, and that's one bad day - about the same level of badness as losing any other game. The playoffs are gravy, and I like my potatoes just fine without gravy.
And as for the gang thing, I don't have much experience there hahahaha. They didn't even have gangs in the town I grew up, probably hardly any even in big cities back then. However, what's the probably with being in more than one except, of course, if and when they go against each other. And the rare times that happens, obviously there's no question in my mind who I'm for: PACKERS.What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Listen, Mr. All-or-Nothing, you're hedging your bets on the most important part of this whole site: you're either a Packer fan and fuck every other team (though you can still be respectful of their fans, like Ras), or you're like the young kids who switch their "favorite" team to whoever's been winning lately."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Exactly. I have favorite players and I enjoy watching other games, but if they play the packers, fuck 'em. Bleed green and gold...and honestly every packer fan should hate the cowboys.Originally posted by Fritz View PostCan you have a second-favorite wife?

Didn't you say something once about having some secondary loyalty to the Lions?
Don't get me started on that piece of shit, Rastak. It's a free country, ya'all can like him/associate with him/whatever the fuck you want. To me, he's the enemy - a lowlife hanging around here for whatever the fuck reason he might have, but it's a free country that way too, I guess.
What's with this "Mr. All-or-Nothing" line? And what could possibly make you think I have ever or would ever switch my favorite team? Certainly nothing I've ever said in 16 or so years in here. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?
