Yes, NFL players spend too much time idling. Ball doesn’t get snapped til there’s 5 seconds or less. Each play typically lasts less than 10 seconds. Players pretty much stand around most of the time. But I reckon, what little action there is in football, it sure beats chasing after a pluck all day.

Sports are meant to be watched “live,” but you do you. I once quit a burger flipping gig on the spot when management refused to give me time off for the infamous Packers-Seafucks NFC Championship game. I wasn’t gonna watch the Bostick fuck up 8 hours after it happened.

If you think hockey is about chasing after a puck, you do not understand the game and for that reason do not enjoy it. Very little puck-chasing occurs beyond the 5 and 6 year-old age levels. Same for soccer.

Sports are meant to entertain, not necessarily to be watched live. There is no right way, wrong way or intended way. Live or recorded, just like music.

Well, now we are getting in the weeds. Yes, racial groups are "good" at things if the definition is better than other races. Although "collectively" is subject to some interpretation. If you took a random sample of 100 men, half black, half white and ran the 100 you wouldn't notice any real difference. However if you took 1 million of each it would be 98% certain that the top 10 times would be men of west African descent. 9 of 10 would be over 99% certain. So when it comes to running a 100 meter sprint there is certainly a racial group that is superior. It even breaks down further on an all time record scale being Jamaican men of west African descent.

Thats just the way the bell curve works where its oh so subtly shifted in many things. However then you have situations such as exposure. I know some chess players that can beat nearly all players who are casual players. They aren't smarter or naturally better, but they were in chess club in high school and simply studied the game more. So in the case of hockey, given that the black population gets less exposure it would make sense the are under represented on a global scale.

Interesting thought exercise. Love went 13 and all of the top 13 were QBs so my assessment of where he falls seems about right.

Camp Battles I'll watch. LT/RG battle which could play out several ways. WR packages. We know the main 5 barring trade/injury, but how will they all be used. 12 packages. Can Musgrave provide some kind of benefit or is this now the sneaky cheese show? If Musgrave can't become a bonafide weapon then his use is limited since Kraft does about everything better and the others all likely block better. VanMess on the interior. I think given the way our pass rush is utilized (collapse the pocket) he could become a key figure on the interior. Finally the CB rotations. Who are the 2 outside guys and who is the slot. What happens in dime, and/or in case of injury. They say Hobbs can play outside, but it seems thats Valentine/Nixon will be the starters there....but if its a 2 CB situation will it line up that way? Finally my darkhorse predictions. Williams wins the RG job and Simmons at the least is the 3rd starter, but possibly stays on the field ahead of Quay.

I think there's going to be a lot of interchanging at the CB position. Hobbs and Nixon can play both slot and outside. Bullard and play slot and safety. Kalen King might be a factor. The possibilities are kind of endless. One underrated position battle I think will be Enagbare vs Barryn Sorrell. As a 4th round pick, Sorrell is almost guaranteed to make the team. He may be battling for significant playing time. Enagbare may be battling for a roster spot.

When I first read your post about Engabare fighting for a spot I thought that is crazy. The more I think it over, the more you could be right. 4th year player who has flashed but not been solid enough to get extensive playing time.

And don't forget about Brenton Cox. He's flashed a few times and I think he's going to be a factor in this battle.

One big thing everyone is missing about our "awful" pass rush. We aren't always trying to sack the QB in record time. Under Barry how many times did you see QBs escape the pocket and run for 20 yards? Now I ask how many times you saw it last year? We had something like 14 sacks in 2 games against QBs that weren't mobile. But most important we contained guys like Hurts.

This defense is designed to stop offenses, not to rack up gaudy sack numbers. We stop the run. We contain mobile QBs and force them to win in the pocket faster than it collapses around them. I'll take subdued sacks if it means no more heart breaking 20 yard runs on 3rd and 11.

Don't expect a trade for Watt or anyone else. Don't expect Gary to get 12 sacks. Just expect that we will grind the clock, stop offenses from scoring and win games.

14 sacks in 2 games against immobile QBs? Well, that bodes well for the game against the Steelers, if Rodgers is still around by then.
