Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been suspended for the first three games of the NFL season for violating the league's substances of abuse policy, it was announced Tuesday.

Addison, who has spent the past two seasons as the Vikings' No. 2 receiver, will miss the opener at the Chicago Bears and then home games against the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals.

He'll be eligible to return for the Vikings' Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin. In the meantime, Addison is allowed to continue to participate in all training camp activities with the Vikings, including preseason games.

I wonder if he wishes it was one more game, so he wouldn't have to play in Dublin and could hang out in the pubs drinking Guiness instead.

Detroit Lions being very, very careful with starters - they seem to list their whole starting team as injured, and play the backups. Even moreso than the Packers, I think.

They also seem to - my perception - play up the fact their whole team is hurt. I wonder sometimes if they're trying to create the usual "us against the world" vibe they seem to like. Hey, we get no respect! Hey, we been gypped! Hey, we have more grit than anyone!

    Or maybe that's just me.

in 2023 Addison was ticketed for driving 140 mph in his Lamborghini. in 2024 he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle due to DUI. He sounds like one of those guys who will be bankrupt in a few years.

Lions are going to have a lot of decisions to make. They are well under the salary cap right now, but they are well over in 2026.

The NFL has banned the “smelling salts” and other ammonia inhalants. Butte and Favor loved sniffing the shit.

I think I am gonna grab some of this shit at Walmart today. Curious to see if it helps with focus while playing poker.

Someobody in Pittsburgh needs to walk up to Rodgers on the sidelines and say "Smell my finger."

I think the Loins have to pay Hutchinson. He's a superstar. The rest, I don't know. But without a strong supporting cast, Jared Goff is not The Guy. You can win with him, but I don't think he can carry a team. Just my opinion. And he's getting pretty big money. Not sure how the backup, Hendon Hooker, is looking. I think he looks good in practice but he may not have played well in their first preseason game.

I also see mixed reports by the talking heads about Caleb Williams in camp. Sometimes it's "Oh boy he's so much better" and other times it's "He's struggling with the long throws." But I think Love struggled with those, too, but has improved. Maybe that's the last piece of the game to fall into place.

Caleb Williams has a big adjustment to make. He's been primarily a shotgun guy, and that won't work in Ben Johnson's offense. He might struggle early.

The Lions placed corner Ennis Rakestraw Jr. on IR, ending his season.

He only played eight games for the Lions last year, but he had a chance to become a bigger part of their secondary in 2025.

                Los Angeles Chargers
                @chargers

Rashawn Slater sustained a torn patellar tendon in today’s practice and will undergo surgery to repair the injury.

He will miss the 2025 season and be placed on Injured Reserve.
Huge loss for the Chargers. Slater had just signed a 4 year extension making him the highest paid LT in the NFL.

Imagine paying a top left tackle a huge contract and then he gets hurt? I’m sure glad we’re not doing that.

I had doubts when I first saw this thread - that it might be annoying good news about other teams. I'm pleased to see, though, so far the news about those other teams has been delightfully bad.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

                      Good one, Cheez.

Yes, I saw that report on Rakestraw in Detroit. He was an end-of-second round pick in 2024. Played in only about half their games last season due to injury. Tough break for the kid.

The talking heads on TV - t he little I see as I walk into the gym - are ga ga over JJ McCarthy in Minny. Lots of touchdowns to Jefferson this year! Surprise breakout QB of the NFL! Get that kid a plaque in Cooperstown.
I will say that he did develop at Michigan - he learned to keep looking downfield even when under pressure and/or scrambling. He was pretty accurate, too. Not sure of his arm strength.

This time of year, the 'good news' is all puff pieces not worth commenting on. Injuries, arrests, and suspensions are the most relevant to post about. There could also be contract signings which might negatively impact the Packers by raising the cost to re-sign their players.

Plus, JJ’s mother, Jenny, is a MILF. And she’s in her 50’s.

Scary head/neck injury for Detroit's Norris.
