Lets just bump this misinformation special to go along with APB making shit up in his own mind. You guys are cut from the same cloth though so expecting honesty and accuracy would be WAY to big of an ask.Originally posted by th87 View PostCareful. yep. Pre trade I was 100% against it!!!!Originally posted by bobblehead View PostAgreed. I think Gary has to be involved for Jerry to sell it to the fans. Gary and a 1st is about my limit though for the right to pay Parsons a kings ransom. Maybe a late day 3 pick besides, but no more. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Have fun storming the castle!Originally posted by bobblehead View PostOk, thats enough of proving strangers are stupid and liars on the internet this morning. I got dogs to walk, a gym to visit and guilder to frame for it. (for you princess bride fans out there).
I think that it was a good trade in the sense that freaky pass-rushers are such a risky use of draft picks (and every team overvalues them due to scarcity). I like the idea of paying the Cowboys two mid-tier #1s for the courtesy of road-testing Micah. In my absolutely never-discusses-with-anyone-and-no longer-reads-football opinion, pass-rushers fall between corners and QBs in that spectrum of rarity vs Prime Career Lomgevity.
So an awesome QB can be a great QB for 10 seasons. An awesome CB has about 5 years before they become a Crafty Veteran. Pass-rushers seem to fall in the middle. If a top-5 QB were ever on the trade block, we'd see some hilarious offers. I would only make a short-term offer on a CB, lest they become a Revis or Asomaugh.
The Parsons trade will be a success as long as he stays healthy, invested, and intelligently utilized. There's always the risk he goes down like Ekeler, and we get nothing back from those picks.
EDIT: My Eeyore self doesn't trust breathless in-game highlight packages on players, because it's in the announcers' job description to hype anything that has a high cap number.I believe in God, family, Baylor University, and the Green Bay Packers.

Agree with this. I thought it was a lot to give up for the "honor" of signing a player to a enormous contract. I'm coming around to the idea that in-their-prime elite pass rushers (and QBs) are probably the exception to this -- he is obviously a difference maker. The Parsons trade will be a success as long as he stays healthy, invested, and intelligently utilized.
I'm also starting to change my thought around the value of CBs. The Coughlin/Strahan-era Giants won with iffy QB play, great pass rush, and decent but not overly outstanding secondary. Gute went from drafting Jaire and Stokes to drafting Valentine. Most good CB's have pretty short spans of elite play - their careers tend to be shorter, plus an offense can just avoid throwing at that CB. A great pass rush is harder to deal with -- but you need more than just one good rusher (as we saw last year when Gary was facing constant doubles and chip-blocks).

When a corner can't get exposed deep because the opposing QB doesn't have time to throw deep, the DB's will look good, even with average talent. Consistent pressure with 4 is something the Packers haven't had in a long time.Originally posted by run pMc View PostI'm also starting to change my thought around the value of CBs. Jerry Jones told @GaryMyersNY on@880ESPNNewYork that he called the Jets to see if they would be interested in trading for Micah Parsons, and he asked for Quinnen Williams and picks in return. The Jets told Jones they didn’t have the resources to deal.I can't run no more

The Jets aren't exactly one defensive player away from a Superbowl. It would have been a waste for them to trade the picks, and the picks would have been higher.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostAdam Schefter

I posted my value rankings of positions once not long ago and CB wasn't near the top. I believe I had it pretty low. Front 7 has been a mantra of great defenses forever. And imo OL makes an average QB look great. Same for RBs. Butte helping the Packers even when he’s no longer a Packer. Butte’s tenure as a Jester was such an epic failure, he left the Jesters with no resources to trade for M-Par.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostAdam Schefter
