    Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II passed his physical with the Cincinnati Bengals and has signed a one-year, $28 million extension, the Win Sports Group told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday.

    Lawrence, acquired by the Bengals from the New York Giants for the No. 10 pick in this week's draft, is now under contract with Cincinnati for the next three seasons.

    Yeah, so much for a later second-round pick and a fifth being enough to land that guy.

    Tenth overall pick, and now you've got to give the guy an even bigger contract? That's a lot to give up. Are the Bengals really that close that this move makes any sense at all?

    @AlbertBreer

    Full terms of the Giants/Bengals deal ...

    • Bengals get: DT Dexter Lawrence.

    • Giants get: 10th overall pick.

    No other picks involved. Cincinnati gets its guy. New York is now picking fifth and 10th overall on Thursday night.

    Dexter Lawrence anyone? A 2nd and a 5th is what Schefter thinks it will cost. That and a new contract; Jordan Davis in Philly is the new benchmark there ($26 mil APY).
    It would be a win now move by a GM that lived off his predecessors success but only is able to get a 7 seed with a roster he has held together by trading the future. What could possibly go wrong??

    Lawrence had the worst stats of his career last year. But I've also heard he may have been the most double-teamed DL in the NFL. Lawrence, Javon Hargrave and Devonte Wyatt would be quite a trio on the DL.

    I don't know. He's 28 years old, but nose tackles can be effective into their early to mid-thirties, I think. But do you want that big of a contract hanging around your neck? And for that price, could you trade one of your fifths to move up a bit in the second round and grab a nose tackle in this draft who would be younger and cheaper and maybe, maybe, have some upside?

    Hell, I don't know. What say you?

    Hopefully he wasn't involved with Risk Management with scissor lifts.

He has proven to be an effective backup already, however; so, I expect a decent career for him in that way, at least.
    He came in relief 2x using the same gameplan Love used. The Baltimore game wasn't limited at all

    Interesting. So you don't think the elite mobility and arm talent he displayed here translates? This isn't Matt Flynn type talent we are talking about. I would even say his tools are in a different world than Matt Hasselbeck. Then it simply comes down to his brain which didn't seem to bad either.
