Quay is back? It seems like McDuffie and Hopper have played much better than Quay before he got hurt.

If by "thread the needle" he means they need to play perfect, then good he's striving for perfection and good he says that to the team, but as a fan, I can't help thinking that the Bears are overrated/have thrived on weaker competition/and can be beat even with something less than perfection.
Tex, da Bears beat the living hell out of the Eagles physically. That offensive line can move people. This looks like a street fight to me, unless somehow the Pack can get out ahead by two scores quickly.

I know a few people here don't care much for Quay, but I think he's had a good year and has developed - slowly, albeit - into a very good, fast linebacker. But will they sign him to a second contract, and should they? If he can keep his speed, sure - but that's an if. Still, he's a young guy. Would you re-sign him or Wyatt or both or neither?

I'm the one that said "thread the needle." I've been on LeFleur's conservative playcalling, but with the frigid temps for Sunday later afternoon in Green Bay, I wonder if this is where you just tell Banks, Rhyan, and Belton to go out there and move people, and take your calculated shots when opportunity arises. But I don't know. Maybe you let Love throw the ball and count on him, his receivers, and the o-line to make that work, then run later? I don't know.

Let's hope for a similar ending.

Let Riley occupy blockers and let Edge, Quay and Williams flow to the ball.

Quay is a team captain and has the green dot. He's sideline to sideline and violent with his hits. I've not seen many boneheaded plays from him this year. Is he as instinctive as Edge or Williams? No, but he is playing very well. He is athletically an upgrade over McDuffie, IMO. And I do like McDuffie.

I think Quay has a ways to go before he changes people's minds, but if you just look at this year he was playing really well.

With the signing of the massive big-boy Jordon Riley who had a RAS of 2.8 (Yikes!) I have to think the Packers are changing their Defensive line philosophy slightly late in the year. Instead of the Wyatt-led penetrating defensive line, they'll be shifting to more of a "two fatties in the middle" who hold space type defense, while the embarrassment of riches at Defensive End and/or Outside Linebacker hold serve and the equally impressive riches at "regular-ass" Linebacker are allowed to just pursue the ball, ala early Dom Capers style.

I could see a Riley-Snackhouse team up on the inside of the D-line to just be a human wall.

This game will be a "thread the needle" game for LeFleur. It's going to be cold, and so harder to pass. So do you go toe-to-toe with da Bears and their run game, and play conservative? Or do you see what Love can do?

Tough call here. The weather plays a big factor.
This is a very young roster and as any old guy can tell you the cold bothers you more as you age. Let love sling it in this one. Use the pass to set up the run instead of the other way around. The bears are going to be hell bent on stopping the run. I won't be even a little surprised if Love throws it 50 yards downfield on the first play. When MiLF was OC in Tennessee with Henry they opened back to back playoff games with long bombs with Tannehill under center. Thats how you're supposed to do it when the defense over commits.

Signing a fattie makes sense. The only vulnerability we have shown is interior run defense. Wooden and Brooks were 'tweeners' coming out in a really deep EDGE draft. Neither are massive run stuffers and now without wyatt we lack size inside. I expect a heavy (pun intended) dose of Brinson, Stackhouse and maybe even Riley in this one. Force the bears to the outside where we excel and then eventually force Caleb to make plays with his arm.

I think who lines up at DT will vary depending on our opponent.

I don't have the high opinion of the Bears that you seem to. Looking at the games they've played, they barely beat a bunch of mediocre or poor teams before the Eagles game, as well as getting trounced by the Lions and Ravens.

I'd re-sign Wyatt - assuming he isn't seriously damaged goods. I'd only re-sign Quay if he was damn cheap. As I said, McDuffie and Hopper played better than he ever did.

I thought that "thread the needle" thing was a quote of LaFleur, and I was surprised to read that he would give that much praise or whatever of the Bears. If it was all you, then I'll just say that I thoroughly disagree.

Agreed, calling them frauds is whistling past the graveyard.

They are flawed, but so are the Packers.

Bingo. I'll be giddy if we win. I don't expect to "expose" them as frauds.
