They were 9-7-1, that's not very good. They are not a great team. They have some individual talent but the QB isn't that good and the OL is horrible.Comment

Since Policy just extended Guter and the The Flower (sounds like a morning zoo radio show crew), and since the season is still young, he can't panic and fire people right now. But at season's end, if they can't turn this clown show around and get to, say, 9 - 8, then it seems that a change would be forthcoming. I'd be more likely to give Guter a pass except that the offensive line is so, so horrible. And that's on him. The Banks signing was an unmitigated disaster. Monk is suited to being like the eight or ninth lineman on the team. Rhyan is (Tex will love this) worse than Josh Myers, who was average at best. ZBB was Guter's best pick. Jury's out on Morgan though it's not great so far.
But I do think, unless there is a turning around of the season, that The Flower has wilted and would need to be fired. I just don't think the guy gets the most from the talent he has. I think a question needs to be asked...did the coaches inform the front office that these players were not ready to play. In other words, did the front office ignore the coaches and not attempt to strengthen the OL leading up to the first game. If so, then Gute is to blame and needs to go. If the coaches thought this line was ready and they put on this performance for 3 games with no clue about how to fix the problems, the OL coach should be terminated today and the OC put on notice. Since Gute has drafted ZBB and a number of other linemen that have performed in the past, and since last years line with Rasheed Walker had much worse performances than the years before, I suspect poor line coaching.Originally posted by sharpe1027 View PostComment

Gute drafted 14 linemen over the past six years plus free agents. This proves he didn't ignore the position. However, spending premium draft capital and salary cap on a position group that fails to perform is a direct indictment of the front office.Originally posted by beveaux1 View Post

Anthony Belton: 63rd out of 66 qualifying tackles with a 42.2 pass-blocking grade.
Jordan Morgan: tied for the most pressures allowed (11) among all tackles.
Aaron Banks: enough said.
A GM can blame positional coaches for failing to develop an isolated draft pick, but when a GM drafts 14 linemen over a five-year span and the unit still sucks this bad, it looks more like a front-office failure.
