I voted to can him after last year's collapses.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostThoughts?
Still feel the same. But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Less penalties tonight and they still look undisciplined. Has to be the coach. Gutenkunst doesn’t handle the players on the roster.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

So was last years 9-3-1 team a fluke? Lucky?
Is Mike Tanier right that they let so many starters leave that the replacements couldn't be better? It does look that way on the O line so far.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Micah Parsons apparently has a WAR of like 8 games a season then.Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View PostThey were 9-7-1, that's not very good. They are not a great team. They have some individual talent but the QB isn't that good and the OL is horrible.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. I'm not saying the couldn't run a bit more, but they clearly can't run the ball with this set of running backs and line. The strength of the offense is Watson, Golden, and Kraft.Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View PostHe's not going to get fired, they _just_ extended him. He doesn't deserve it. Although I think not interviewing Jimmy for DC was a mistake and the talent gap is Gooter's fault. But why are we not running the ball at all??
If the line gives Love any time, he'll do well with this group. They are barely slowing the rush at all. It's bad.

Its not helping that Kraft seems like 90% of himself currently. Not his fault but its limiting.Originally posted by sharpe1027 View Post

Since Policy just extended Guter and the The Flower (sounds like a morning zoo radio show crew), and since the season is still young, he can't panic and fire people right now. But at season's end, if they can't turn this clown show around and get to, say, 9 - 8, then it seems that a change would be forthcoming. I'd be more likely to give Guter a pass except that the offensive line is so, so horrible. And that's on him. The Banks signing was an unmitigated disaster. Monk is suited to being like the eight or ninth lineman on the team. Rhyan is (Tex will love this) worse than Josh Myers, who was average at best. ZBB was Guter's best pick. Jury's out on Morgan though it's not great so far.
But I do think, unless there is a turning around of the season, that The Flower has wilted and would need to be fired. I just don't think the guy gets the most from the talent he has. I mean, he's the offensive guru, and his offense has sucked for a year-and-a-half now."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

It is getting hard to believe that the people running this operation are the ones who can fix it.I can't run no more with that lawless crowd

I think a question needs to be asked...did the coaches inform the front office that these players were not ready to play. In other words, did the front office ignore the coaches and not attempt to strengthen the OL leading up to the first game. If so, then Gute is to blame and needs to go. If the coaches thought this line was ready and they put on this performance for 3 games with no clue about how to fix the problems, the OL coach should be terminated today and the OC put on notice. Since Gute has drafted ZBB and a number of other linemen that have performed in the past, and since last years line with Rasheed Walker had much worse performances than the years before, I suspect poor line coaching.Originally posted by sharpe1027 View PostI'd get rid of Gute before MLF. The reason is I don't think any coach would do well with this line.

Gute drafted 14 linemen over the past six years plus free agents. This proves he didn't ignore the position. However, spending premium draft capital and salary cap on a position group that fails to perform is a direct indictment of the front office.Originally posted by beveaux1 View Post

The Packers' line ranks dead last in the NFL with a 41.7 PFF pass-blocking grade and a staggering 51 pressures allowed. The specific players Gutekunst heavily invested in are driving this collapse:
Anthony Belton: 63rd out of 66 qualifying tackles with a 42.2 pass-blocking grade.
Jordan Morgan: tied for the most pressures allowed (11) among all tackles.
Aaron Banks: enough said.
A GM can blame positional coaches for failing to develop an isolated draft pick, but when a GM drafts 14 linemen over a five-year span and the unit still sucks this bad, it looks more like a front-office failure.
