WHERE is the IF coming from ????????????? It's widely known this is exactly what happened. In the end, Jimmy believed he was going to be the Badgers Head Coach and that is why he passed the job offer up.

I don't know this part for sure, but from what I remember (and trust me I fanatically bleed red and white), JIMMY was getting paid very well at UW Madison. They upped his salary when others tried poaching him in college like they did Dave Aranda. GB reportedly didn't come in with a strong financial offer to Jimmy as compared to what he was making at UW Madison. If that is true, that might have been part of his considerations as well

I am going to believe what Wilde reported and draw an obvious conclusion from what we heard from Jimmy and what I heard from others locally. He was offered the job and decided the time was not right because he thought he was going to be the badgers next head coach. The reporters can circle talk however they want. That is what they believe occurred as well

Seen some confusion on this so to clarify: The Packers can speak with Leonhard regardless of whether the Broncos win or lose on Sunday. If Denver does indeed head to the Super Bowl, the Packers simply have to have the initial interview between January 26th-February 1st.

This was confusing to me as well. I had read that only second interviews could be conducted after Jan 25th for coaches on teams still in the playoffs. Since Hafley left after the window of when the Packers could initially interview Leonard and if Denver wins on Sunday, I read somewhere that the Packers couldn't interview Leonard until after the Superbowl - which didn't make sense to me. So if the Packers can interview Leonard after Sunday, regardless of the outcome, that makes me feel a little better.

I still have a questions. Say Denver does win Sunday, from what I understand now, Packers can interview Leonard...however, they can't hire him until after the Superbowl. Is that correct?

The fact that the Packers didn't hire Christian Parker and still haven't hired anyone for the DC job, I'm believing Leonard is their guy. I gotta believe Leonard has interest in coming to the Packers, that's why the Packers haven't hired anyone yet. And I think Jonathon Gannon is being kept in the Packers back pocket if Leonard doesn't take the DC job.

Wilde reported it as it was in progress; I think him and Tauscher, with the Badger connections were pretty in the know on this. I think he slept on it and changed his mind. I remember, years ago, reading some projected numbers. And what stood out to me, was Jimmy was getting paid quite will with the Badgers and the rumored numbers would not be much more with GB. For the record, I have no idea of the numbers part of things were accurate. The AI generation of circle spinning can report this however they want, but the job was there for him to take IMO.

No, I don't mean the original interview 2 years ago. That just seems to be a convenient argument for both sides about how formal the contract talks got. I'm sure he was asked if he would accept it but wanted to wait for the Badgers. Whether it got down to a contract doesn't really matter if the timing wasn't going to work and the Packers were second fiddle.

I meant Demovsky was almost as adamant about the Packers obviously waiting for Leonard to become available to interview either this week or next. He was dead wrong about that. So Demo can suck it next time he dismisses the fans and contributors.
