  • What would you like to see more next preseason game???

    My 5 would be :

    1. Clowny on KR/PR as the feature guy, I want to see if he can put his speed on game time situations... (WE NEED A PLAYMAKER HERE)

    2. Favre in for a bit longer to build up chemistry...

    3. Packers use simple blitz packages a bit more (I know its preseason and your not supposed to give anything away, but it would be nice to see a bit more blitzing)

    4. Have Rouse in there with the second string, (I remember he came in a lot later in the game)

    5. Have MANUEL have more reps... In my opinion the packers need to see if this guy is still the old Manuel of last season...

    1. I'm starting to think Clowney doesn't make the team. It would be nice if we were able to give him a year on the practice squad. Will Blackmon made a statement in this game. He has a legitimate chance of being the return man if he keeps it up in the next three games.
    2. I would like to see more 3 and 4 WR sets with him there when he's in there, so he can build continuity with Jones. However, the other guys were all on the team last year. I'd rather not expose him to injury. He can build continuity in practice.
    3. If their front four continues to rush the passer, they won't be a big blitz team this year, and I'd prefer them not to show anything to their regular season opponents.
    4. I'd agree. First team even.
    5. I'd agree.

We need to see something more positive in our running game.

Favre need more rep's. to develop cohesiveness with our Number 1 'O'.

We need to see who will be our guy on KO's and punts.

        1. Zero minutes from Dendy.

        2. Our two starting CBs on the field.

        3. Anyone but Atari, Marquad, or Underwood at safety.

        4. A five man front of Kampman, Cole, Harrell, Pickett, and Jenkins with Hawk and Barnett backing them on some running downs. We have a strength, we should use it.

        5. Jesus put his hands on Herron and turn him into a real running back.

The 5-2 seems like a good idea on first downs. I'd like to see some experimentation, too.

More passes to the TE's, so see which ones can actually catch the ball.

I'll take the first 4. As for #5, even Jesus could'nt accomplish THAT miracle. Had that been a real game, Favre would have gotten hammered big time cause Herron missed a blitz pick-up. No excuse on earth for that. However, due to Mr Thompson's dis-belief in experience when it comes to the RB position, Herron ain't going no where cause he's all we got.......

MY bet is NONE of them. Bubba can block but not catch. Lee might catch but can't block. May-be you can whip up some kind of magic and combine Bubba and Lee into 1.

                  Lee

And BEFORE the usual suspects post on my criticism of Lee's blocking or lack of it.

Defense not to give up big plays, especially the secondary.

Something that I'm still POed about is on 3rd and 17, Batch hit Young up the middle and ColecoVision Bigby (he doesn't deserve to be called Atari anymore) whiffed big time.

Advise for ColecoVision - Just make the tackle and stop trying to lay the wood. Sure, big hits are cool, but a conversion of 3rd and 17 for a touchdown is just unacceptable.

Don't you mean more passes to Zac Alcorn?

I agree. We just have too much young depth to develop to keep a guy on the roster merely as a specialist on kick returns...unless he is absolutely phenominal. Tripping over your own shoestrings, as Clowney did on a return the other night, isn't phenominal.

True, although blitzing becomes even more effective when the front four is able to get disruption. I'd like to see more development in terms of delayed blitzes and run blitzes.

I'm pretty sure I suggested something like this last week too. I think it is a great idea to look at. A 5-2 defense with Hawk and Barnett as the LBs certainly could do some damage on early downs, and be a real problem for teams with receiving threats at TE.
