"Current Packers that were obscure cut players are Cullen Jenkins, Donald Lee, Ruvell Martin, Atari Bigby, Jarret Bush, Charlie Peprah. Gilbert Brown was an obscure cut guy. So was Hunter Hillenmeyer. Scott Wells was cut, but Green Bay brought him back on the PS."

KGB was cut and on the PS too. Unreal that he was sitting there for the taking.

If this is true about Buster Davis I think the Packers really need to ponder this player and the lack of depth at linebacker that is currently on the roster.

Yes, Harvey, you're right. And exactly how many of those players were the "missing link" in the season they were picked up? We absolutely need to grab a couple of guys to help in 2008. We got who we got for 2007. If we get ONE player who'll contribute this year, THAT is our miracle for 2007.

That's my point, and I know you knew that.... but it didn't suit your agenda to acknowledge it.

          Packers cut kicker Rayner

The Green Bay Packers have decided to go with rookie Mason Crosby as their kicker and have released incumbent Dave Rayner.

Rayner told the Press-Gazette this afternoon that he had been released after the team made several attempts to trade him.

“They said it was the hardest decision they had to make at any position,” Rayner said when reached on his cell phone. “It was one of those things where I don’t think I could have done any more. I was fighting an uphill battle the whole way after the draft.”

Rayner won the kicking job last summer over veteran Billy Cundiff and made 26 of 35 field goals during the regular season, but General Manager Ted Thompson shook up the special teams when he drafted Crosby out of Colorado in the sixth round of April’s draft.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll be back here someday,” Rayner said. “You never know if he’s the guy long-term or a quick fix.”

The Packers are expected to announce their cuts in a few hours. The NFL deadline for reducing rosters to 53 players is 5 p.m., Central time.

I wish Dave Rayner nothing but the best. He was a good kicker, but Crosby was just better.

The only thing we really need is a starting RB if Morency/Jackson don't pan out. Other than that, it's just depth or develpmental guys. This isn't anything to be all excited about our get hopes up about but that never stops the panic crowd from freaking out and making more of it than it is

Damn! I wish we could have traded him but I understand it was a difficult move to complete. Hopefully TT will make SOME moves and get in some better talent at RB and TE.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cincy picks up Rayner. They lost their kicker last night to injury.

Not really sure that there was a "wrong" choice here. Crosby will struggle at times but will be fine, I'd think. He's got quite a leg on him, that's for sure.

I think Graham in Cinn. kicker. They lost their 2nd stringer.

Zach Hilton was released. A few years ago he had a good season, 35 rec., and he is a huge target at 6-8. He is probably better then Alcorn and Harris.

                            I had the same thought.

So, lemme see if I got this straight.

because I don't like the players at RB,TE, parts of the OL, the depth at Safety, and I think the reserve linebackers aren't even NFLE quality, AND I've been saying this since, oh, I don't know, the end of last season, now I'm part of the panic crowd?

What is going on with you?

Wisenhunt can't do the job himself. He has his lackys do his cuts for him. I hate coaches that don't have the balls to make the cuts face to face with the players. I respect the hell out of McCarthy for telling his players face to face.

This is in regards to the buster davis article

                                Packers should bring him
