its good news for Packer fans tho....

Favre reserves right to change his mindAssociated Press

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Brett Favre is back.

    But for how long?

Despite comments earlier in the offseason that there was "no doubt" the upcoming season would be his last, Favre said Saturday that he wasn't so sure.

"I know I said that," Favre said Saturday, in his first public comments since telling the Green Bay Packers he would return for another year. "But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it. And I'm sure that it will come up from somewhere else at some point, but it's been a distraction not only for me but for I think the guys I played with in the past, and I'm not going to talk about it this year."

In a half-hour session with reporters, Favre reiterated several times that he never considered asking to be traded to another team in the offseason.

"I know there was a lot of talk about being traded or wanting to play for another team," Favre said. "That never, I've told you guys that over and over again that I didn't want to play for another team, and that's the truth. And never once did I mention [a] trade. This is where I wanted to be the whole time."

Favre said he came back intending to win, but if the Packers can't go to the Super Bowl, he hopes to at least have fun.

"I know there's the risk of being 4-12 again," Favre said. "As with any season, there's optimism. I'm well aware that we lost five games by just a few points [last year]."
To much of a good thing is an awesome thing

I bet he blames himself for every one. #4 bashers think he doesnt.

      .::.

I don't know about that, I think he was pissed off that the quality and depth of players on Green Bay's roster was getting worse from 2000 on...Last year he just wasn't able to overcome it. I think he's encouraged by the moves to rebuild and feels like theres nowhere to go but up.

Personally, I hope he stays 2 more years and hangs it up. After he breaks every record in the book.

can't get any worse than George Dubya Bush...

Farve is an elite athlete who knows that one day he will have to call it quits for good and the defining chapter of his life will be over. It's a huge struggle to know when is the right time to walk away (BTW - check out the gray hair and wrinkles. He looks much older than 36). Flip-flopping on that decision is understandable.

Flip-flopping by politicans like John Kerry, on the other hand, are more akin to what the New York Times columnist William Saphire said about Hilliary Clinton - she's a "congenital liar." John Kerry is the same.

Kiwon, the gray hair and wrinkles stand out everytime I see a picture of Brett or on TV, it almost seemed like he 'turned' overnight. I think this past season hit him mentally more than we realized. The bashers who kept bringing up 29 Int. made me positively ill.........
Is it really a halo or
                  just a swelled head ?

Why, didn't he really throw them? Did we just imagine the interceptions?

The Packers starting QB for the last 14 years might play 1 more is lame? viqueens fans would be pissing themselves silly if he said "Im gonna play another year but it will be in lavender".

i'm a huge Favre fan, and even i thought he killed the team last year because he didn't understand what he needed to do to help the team. i'm not bashing, i'm just stating a fact.

At least, that's what they'd like you to believe. I guess I'd be worried for them if that's how they truly felt. Let's see 36-year-old Brett Favre or 37-year-old Brad Johnson.

I have a hard time believing Brad Childress wouldn't be absolutely giddy if the Packers called him up and offered a swap of starting QBs.
