  • Another way to look at it is, we had a good run to start the season. Sometimes more lucky than good in the Eagles game and the Chargers game, given the closeness of each of those games. Last week we fumbled late and that could have, but did not cost us. This game was about taking care of our own business, and we did not, and the Bears capitalized and did not choke. When you need your opponent to choke in order to win, then you are talking about another Eagles type game again. This time, we were on the other side of that kind of luck.

Someone mentioned the character of the team and how we come back. If this is not a rallying game, I don't know what is. They will be pissed when they see game film, guaranteed. The Redskins are not a cakewalk, and perhaps now we can get undefeated out of our heads and actually take care of business for two halves next week.

    • The skins strength is their awesome secondary. That matchup will be very interesting.

      • I agree that this loss makes a win next week against the Redskins more likely, although the Skins looked solid against the Lions this week.

          • I'm not too worried about it. It was a hard fought game against a team who's backs were against the wall. You hate to see the sloppy mistakes like fumbles and penalties, but hopefully it brings them back to the fundementals and they come back next week better prepared to excecute mistake free football.

Someone said earlier that they were not a 16-0 football team. That is exactly the truth. We'll probably lose 4 or 5 more and it will suck every time. The bright side is it was correctable slop and that nobody really got hurt.

            • I'm still a little pissed about the fake draw shit. The Packers have done outstanding in pass protection. It's one thing if you have to do that tricky shit just to prevent Brett from getting killed, but all season the Packers Oline has held up well in the pass game. Those were the plays that sort of erked me the most. I can see what he was trying to do, so I'm not that hard on him, but he better not do that very often. It's just not something that Brett seems comfortable doing. Brett is better when he's focusing down field.

              • Yougsters will make mistakes but these were tough to watch. One thing I will say, our D is just above average.

You might be right. They've played pretty average against some pretty average offenses. They certainly havn't been playing top 5 or even top 10 football. Just above average seems accurate.

                  • Good point on the young players too. You have to go through growing pains with guys like Jones and Wynn. They'll only get better, but when you count on youth, you lose a few that you shouldn't.

                    • For this D to be a top 5 unit, Collins,Jenkins and Hawk really need to step it up.

                      • If they next week, all will be well but if we go into the bye at 4-2

                        • The Packers came out with a bang but shortly after it seemed like they were playing scared. Maybe it was all the "Hester factor", I don't know. But it sure didn't seem like the Packers played THEIR game tonight. Like others said, they looked like they were playing not to lose. And it also seemed like things changed a lot after the Favre pick. Was MM too hasty in pulling in the reins in on Favre? .....as people call it.

I was just thinking the same thing. The tone of the game changed after Favre's ridiculous pick deep in his own territory. One reason I think it changed is because the young guys on the team saw Favre panic and make a bonehead play. They haven't seen that this year. If Favre keeps his head, things turn out differently. The vets have to be leaders on this team. This is one game when they weren't, especially on offense where our veteran lineman screwed up too.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                            • I definately thought it was a "punishment" of sorts. Next series was 3 rushing plays and a punt. Things is though, if you're going to take it out of his hands, you need to have a viable option (running game) to fill in the blanks. Hell we did not get another first down until the final series.
