I'm not sure I'm getting the point. My opinion on the rule doesn't depend on whether it's hurt or helped the Packers in the past. If a third Wild Card team was added in 1989 instead of 1990, we would have made the playoffs with a team that went 10-6. If instant replay had been in effect in 1998, Rice would have been ruled to fumble. So what?

Exactly, the Vikings would have lost five superbowls instead of four had pass interfearence been a replayable call and replay been in place.

I'm not talking about whether it should be one foot or two feet. That's another debate, and personally I'm cool with either one. However, I think the push out of bounds in the NFL is ridiculous. Not only are you punishing a good defensive play. You are putting a judgement call in the hands of the refs. And, it's another play that can't be reviewed. They'll overturn the rule--once something happens in a playoff game that costs some team.

So what? It's still a dumbass rule and was BEFORE that play.
      Still bitter?

Nope, past is past....but I have since day one thought that was a stupid rule. What ever caused it's creation? It's hard enough to officiate a game.
They have to guess what MIGHT have happened?

I agree Harv, but Olsen caught a td on Bigby with one foot down and Bigby pushed him out, ruled a touchdown, I just want the same call. But I agree the game is too fast for these refs, it either should be ruled an incomplete pass, or it should be reviewed. All I hear is how the NFL wants more offense, but in this case the refs side for the defense, weird.
Yeah, it is weird, and also, the interception that Chuck had probably was caught by the receiver too, and we caught a break there. It's like in baseball, if the throw hits the 1st basemans glove as the runner touches first base, they always call him out, even though tie is suppose to go to the runner, and god knows we need more scoring in baseball, unless your a fan of the Yankees, Red Sox, or Rockies.

What's baseball. They lost me in the mid 90's. I'd rather watch Cricket.

Lost you in the nineties? That was the greatest decade for baseball ever. What, you don't like steroids? Then why are you watching football.

              • Well, since you asked I will give my honest opinion.

Young readers please turn away, baseball used to be my favorite sport and I have strong feelings:

Those fucking assholes can kiss my ass. I am 100% pro-union but these fucking pricks can blow me. The absolute unbalance of teams is a joke. Listen to the players association talk...Gene Orza and satan Donald Fehr can shove it up their ass. These self centered sons of bitches destroyed any interest I had in the game when they cancelled the world series, the final nail was knocked in . Don't you find that a little disturbing? I sure did. No cap, and a complete disdain for the fans....FUCK YOU BASEBALL

sorry kids, but I had to give it straight.

Jason Spitz did an amazing job with no penalties, and good protection, and when the defense jumped offsides, he just said "f" it and snapped the ball giving us a first down. He was outstanding.

Favre almost got done in by his own hard count, he didn't even see the ball coming.

I noticed that also, he almost fumbled, the ball hit him right in the gut. Then ten seconds later after the play was dead, he heaves it 40 yards downfield, that was funny shit.

Exactly, a win is a win, 5-1 is sitting pretty good going into the bye week.
I think that the young players are learing how to win games with the veteran leadership showing the way. It is important to win ugly and when things are not exactly going smooth. What a suprising and pleasant suprise so far this season. What a difference from the last few years. Everyone down here (in the southwest part of the country) is talking about the Pack and jumping on the bandwagon, except for the damn Cowboy fans, who acually are giving Favre and the Pack thier due. Hawk seemed to finally have an impact game and Barnet continues to make the big plays. Who would have thought 5-1 going into the bye week.

                              • Redskins fans are a whiny bunch. They think the Packers got all the calls. They blame the loss on the PI on Thrash during CW's Illegal Contact.

They also think, to accommodate their lack of OL depth, that the roster size should be expanded to 65.
