A few of you guys should be eating some crow for doubting that Ruvell Martin can be an effective receiver.

      I never doubted you, Ruvell.
Effective? Hmm, I think that is open to debate. Our 5th receiver vs. their 5th db.
Maybe you're both right, but not for the reasons you suspect. Ruvell is effective as a receiver because he's better as a #5 than the fifth db on most/all teams. But he's not effective as a #3 or perhaps even a #4, because he's just not that good. So it's more a measure of the Packer's depth at WR more than Martin's talent.
Rand, you have it down. My "point" was the term effective. I never doubted that a HUGE receiver could be better than another team's worst DB..and those guys are usually not big.

Martin is what he is...a bottom of the rotation guy. Woudn't be surprised to see him go weeks without another decent game. There are only so many times you go with 5.

But, if you or anybody else feels comfortable thinking that we are going with 5 WRs and putting the game in Martin's hands then they are crazy.

I thought Clowney was going to be Greg Jennings II.

He wasn't even Clowney the first.

I thought 9 wins was the right amount of optimism.

We might have 10 wins by Thanksgiving leftovers.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I had predicted 9 wins and was thinking I was chugging koolaid for thinking that high. I thought the o-line would make for a much improved run game so that everything wouldn't be piled onto Brett.

I thought Moss would be a trouble maker for any team and was glad the Packers didn't get him.

Oh well, 8-1 crow is pretty tasty.

One of your best thread ideas, ever, Partial!

My crow portion is well earned. I was totally against getting Moss in, I thought he was washed up.

I also banked on Wynn becoming the surprisingly successful feaute back.

Like Harvey, I thought College would break out this year. He still might, but, the year is more than half over (reg. season). Same with Collins, same with Hawk.

I think I predicted 9 wins, but I did have a lot of "ifs" and "thens" in one thread that led me to 12-4. I wasn't firm in my beliefs.

I aslo thought TT's true genius would be revealed after the Harrell pick.

Somebody please pass the corn bread? And, why cant we pluck the damned feathers before we have to eat this shitty bird??

I was really down on KGB, and thought Ted needed to cut him. I was wrong. Amazing what can happen with players when you put them in position to play to their strengths.

I'll take some of that. I forgot how down I was on Kabeer. Couldn't see paying that $ to a part-timer, but he was worth it, yes he is.

I will eat plenty of crow picking GB to only win 7 games...although I did think they would be a better team than last year, just not in terms of wins due to a tougher schedule. I will eat crow for being upset with not getting Moss...since our WR corp right now is one of the best in the league I think, without the headcase potential.

Well, we all thought different things. I was soundly criticized for standing up for KGB during all the "hate", but then again, I thought I was drowning in Kool-aid for picking 6-10.... Hmm. Still don't like the run game, but remarkably they haven't missed it. That still baffles me...

I also didn't have much faith in Bigby, or in Donald Lee. I also didn't believe so many young players could step up and play together well, thinking that one or more would create holes that others couldn't fill. Other than the OL, this hasn't happened.

serve me some, I surely deserve it too. 8-1.... Good Lord, I cannot believe it, yet, it's true....

I think those that "hated" KGB were in the minority, so I doubt you were soundly criticized. I'd like to see that thread. Why not keep him around? We had the money. I think that's how most people felt.

KGB has been nothing short of spectacular this year. I think now that he sees how well is playing in his limited role, he'll prefer it. It will preserve his time in the league as well as keep his body healthier for the post-football aspect of his life.

I have been extremely impressed with him in this position where I was cynical last year.

Critisized for KGB? I don't think so.

99% of the critisism you endured this offseason is because of the certainty of your conviction that we would suck. I think every team's fans including the Dolphins deserve some hope for the upcoming season. It bugged me when some here said that we had absolutely no chance, and called people idiots for thinking that maybe we had a shot. Who wants to hang around in here all summer for a pity party? It's one thing to worry about potential problem areas, but another thing entirely to completely dismiss the folks who held out hope.

I acknowledge it could have just as easily gone the other way. And man, did I ever dread that possibility. I'm glad you're able to enjoy the winning. It's also nice to see you enjoying yourself more in here.

Agreed. I'm not sure if Merlin is enjoying it or not. I haven't heard from packnut. The Optimistic Realist Club is looking for new members--to replace Bretsky.

A few of you guys should be eating some crow for doubting that Ruvell Martin can be an effective receiver.

                                I never doubted you, Ruvell.
                                Now hold up...
I like ruvell but i think your taking that a lil too far.
I never doubted he could be a good backup reciver but you were saying he start for a lot of teams at the 2nd reciver position. Hes had one good game all year. I dont think that is means for eating crow
