No, mraynrand, you don't get it at all. So much drama, I am not sure where to start.

A month or two back, I found some of our commentary and threads duplicated on another packer website. There were complete copies of 4 or 5 different threads and duplication of several poster accounts. One poster account was completely copied, right down to the avatar and the location of said poster. I just assumed that the poster had accounts at both places. What puzzled me, was that another few posters contributions here, were duplicated there word for word, but the poster accounts were not the same.

I contacted the members here and asked if they had duplicated their content elsewhere and if these accounts were legitimate. (Incidentally, I'd have no problems with that if it were true). As I suspected, it wasn't true. The content was simply copied, without acknowledgment or permission.

I contacted the other site and asked for removal of the threads in question, and that site complied, but complied reluctantly claiming that they could not and should not police their membership.

If I'm going to ask them to police themselves, well, we are going to police ourselves also. One of the accusations thrown back at me during those discussions is that we have some "pretty crummy" members here too. I'm sure that's possible. I asked for specifics, but never received any. Had I; I most certainly would have investigated and taken action, if appropriate.

So, at the end of the day, I'm not going to allow the membership here to openly mock the administrator of a competing Packer website. While it might be funny to some, it isn't what I want to build here. We are a football website after all.

Next, the Obama banner. I acquired a site that allowed political discussion. Rather unusual in itself. As part of the deal I made, I agreed to not make radical changes to that site. So I have left FYI alone. A lot of banter goes on in that room, and I purposely do not weigh in. As long as that banter stays in that room, it has been sanctioned as OK.

I'm particularly hard on those that bring that discussion, or their personal disagreements with other posters over political discussion out of that room. That isn't happening. Political discussion has no place outside of the FYI room.

Right now, our Packers discussion is open to the world. Anyone can read anything that is posted in the Packer room. That includes avatars, banners, and signatures. Your political banners are "exposed to the world", and as such attributed to this website.

If I'm not going to allow banners that mock other folks, I'm not going to mock political figures either, and that includes the President. So, I restricted banners and photos to "football related".

I didn't remove any signatures with "witty political statements" or other statements. Just the photos. Hopefully it stays that way.

Hopefully the majority see that it isn't censorship as much as it is bringing the focus back to packer football.

I was referencing the homepage. We've gained all of 11 new posters since Aug 01. 88 posts from 5 new members since May 3rd. This site doesn't even show up in searches, so the only people finding it are the ones who know it exists.

That's a wholly different issue. We really don't need to show up in search engines to get membership. We just need the best packer discussion. The rest of it helps.

As far as pushing the envelope, what fucking envelope am I pushing outside of the Garbage Can, where no "envelope" exists? You're going to blame photoshopped images in the Garbage Can for not having any new members? Well, on an unlisted website with a broken front page that mocks anyone who might want to try to enter, that's certainly an ironclad argument.

Maybe you should stop blaming the membership who've been here from the beginning for your complete lack of effort at even basic HTML - much less anything that would encourage anyone to find - or god forbid, BE ABLE TO ENTER THE SITE. Yeah, I've harped on this point before, and I know updating websites is about as fun as sticking a fork in your ass, but it's been over half a year and you seem content with an unindexed site with a broken front page that's brought in 11 people since preseason football began.

The fighting, cursing, and drama have been a constant at this site since it started. If anything, the Packer section is as clean and orderly as it's ever been. It's laughable that you blame that now for no new members while simultaneously defending your broken, unfindable website. Every other Packer forum is listed in a basic, "Packer forum" or "green bay packer forum" search. Except this one. I'm sorry, but it makes it real difficult to believe that you have any interest in this place surviving, much less improving.
