Let me use AntiPolarbear aka "Tank" as the perfect example.

He was able to log on as APB, post whatever garbage he wanted, whenever, over and over. If it wasnt about football it was moved to the Romper Room but he was still able to do it, over and over. Yet that wasnt good enough, he had to make not 1 but 2 extra accounts for no other purpose but to start crap.

Can you give everyone a good arguement for that? The majority has spoken and thats how PR operates, just like the USA.

You're not arguing for or against multiple accounts here, but rather, you're arguing that APB (and his other manifestations) were providing poor or questionable content. As I stated above, I have absolutely no problem with you guys setting a standard for behavior and tossing someone who violates that standard. And you're well within your rights to not allow multiple accounts as a standard. If it's far more difficult to track down someone who violates content standards when they start multiple accounts, I can see that as one argument for not allowing multiple accounts. My understanding (which may very likely be wrong) is that an IP ban would take care of someone making multiple accounts. If it's easy to set up mulitiple IPs and avoid an IP ban, I'm not sure how you'd police the multiple user thing in the first place. So we've come full circle. I think (and I'm one of the very few) that it makes no difference whether you post with different names, just so long as you follow the content behavior standards. It appears to me that you're much more upset with APB/Tank for content than you are for the multiple names. But feel free to set me straight if what I wrote is full of misconceptions.

The Forum is having to lose a little content to enforce a rule that can help it's survival. Savage posters intent on destroying the Forum by hiding behind the multiple ID's can create all sorts of havoc.

This issue was considered in detail by everyone who wanted to give input long long ago and the rule was laid out. Naturally some will not agree; tha'ts cool. Everyone won't agree with every rule but it's the rule and should be respected by those in here.

I don't like the NFL Celebration rule either; but I still choose to watch the NFL. There could be rules in here I don't like; I still choose to post here.

Would be cool to move on now that we all agree there are diffences over a rule that isn't going to be changed and was considered in detail months ago.

I respect the rule, but there are some things I don't understand, and I'm being kind of tenacious about trying to find the answers. I know probably no one really cares, but I'm interested in seeing if anyone can convince me that there's some inherent harm in having multiple logins. I can understand people preferring to know that they're not conversing with the same person using different names, but again, if no harm is being done, what is the problem? As I pointed out, many different people in a household or workplace could potentially log on as the same guy. How could you police that? LJ was a problem because he was a nasty dude in multiple iterations. But if he had been a friendly guy, playing multiple roles, who would have cared?

Also, I hope mad answers my question about tracking down trouble makers. I don't understand how having multiple logins makes it harder to track down and IP ban someone for bad behaviour.

Let me repeat, I respect the rule and I understand it. I have no desire to set up multiple accounts. I simply don't understand how it is a threat to the forum, just so long as the person, or multiple-personality behaves him or herself. Personally, I'm interested in the answers to these questions out of simple curiosity, but hey, if you really don't care to answer them, I can understand that too.

Unfortunately we would have to ban them. Everyone is aware of the fact that creating multiple accounts without a stated reason to the administrator or the mods is in danger of being banned.

It compromises the integrity of everyone on this forum when people go ahead and create multiple accounts. If you are too much of a coward to state an opinion from your trusted user account and have to go create another account to either state that opinion or back up the opinion from your trusted user account that is being a candy ass. Something that Tank did on 10 times with his "other" accounts. That is a total lack of integrity and alowing something like that to continue will in the long term wreck the integrity and respect of this forum.

Most of them seem to be making the leap that anyone having multiple logins must be a trouble-maker, since that's what LJ did. I'm asking for clarifications, which I explained above. I added to my post. go back and read it. if your not asking for the rule to be changed than who gives a fuck about clarification? Here is all the clarification you need, if you create multiple accounts and the admin finds out you will get banned.
