Day two: Williams, Pickett and Harrell are still out. Jon Ryan's having a good day (60 yrd punt with 4.75 hangtime)

Tory Humphrey sounds like he's gotten over his jitters. I'm really pulling for the guy.
-- During an early team drill, Aaron Rodgers connected with tight end Tory Humphrey on an impressive looking completion over the middle in tight coverage. Rodgers lofted the ball just past the outstretched hands of linebacker Abdul Hodge and into Humphrey’s waiting arms. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/...er/index.shtml

Edit: Also, Barbre is the starting left guard today instead of Colledge. It's probably the start of a rotation.

One more note: Blackmon has been getting the most reps at punt return for the last two days. Either his foot has healed or they aren't worried about it.

    Edit 2:Crosby's still gold.

-Rodgers got tackled after making a long completion to Taj Smith, who later took out a referee after another long pass completion.

-C-wood intercepted Rodgers while he was being pressured by a Hawk blitz

      Day Two Wrap up: http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/...er/index.shtml

Apparently TE Evan Moore and WR Taj Smith looked great today. Who are these guys again?

Humphrey and Finley are still dropping balls. Abdul Hodge lost a bunch of coverage battles, And Bush can't catch an interception.

Also, Rodgers had a bad day (can you really blame him?)

Here's the complete write-up from the GBPG....

          * Aaron Rodgers was 16-for-21 passing during team (11-on-11 drills), but he admitted he didn't have his best practice as the team heavily worked third-down situations. During the blitz period, Rodgers was 2-for-5 with an interception and two overthrows. In team (11-on-11) periods near the end of practice, Rodgers threw a pair of passes that went through CB Jarrett Bush's hands. He also was flushed from the pocket on several occasions and got away with some ill-advised passes into double-coverage. And in 7-on-7 passing -- usually target practice for QBs -- Rodgers was 7-for-14. Basically, he looked like a guy on Day 2 of training camp.

          * Elsewhere in the passing game, Brian Brohm was 8-for-12 and Matt Flynn 8-for-11. In 7-on-7, Brohm was 6-for-7 and Flynn 2-for-4.

          * With Tramon Williams (hip flexor) sitting, Bush again worked as the No. 3 cornerback. Will Blackmon paired with Bush as the second team CBs.

          * CB Charles Woodson, who intercepted Rodgers, almost had another during 7-on-7. Flynn was trying to throw a slant for Donald Driver, and Woodson once again cut underneath and deflected the throw.

          * Undrafted rookie WR Taj Smith was invisible throughout offseason practices, but he stood out today. First, during the blitz drill, he had a great, sliding catch on a beautiful touch pass from Rodgers down the right sideline, just beyond Bush. In 7-on-7, Rodgers made another good throw and hit Smith down the left sideline on a go route. Smith finished with three catches in team drills, all from Rodgers.

          * LB Desmond Bishop took a couple of plays off because of a bloody nose.

          * GM Ted Thompson spent time on the sideline with both Mark Murphy, the team's president and CEO, and chief negotiator Russ Ball.

          * There were roughly a half-dozen flags and, again, several presnap penalties.

          * Dropping 'em like they're hot: Tory Humphrey, Jermichael Finley.

          * With Ryan Pickett and Justin Harrell sidelined, DT Colin Cole is getting extended action with the first team, and he made a couple of notable stuffs today.

          * Rookie TE Evan Moore had a couple of head-turning plays. He beat Abdul Hodge down the seam for a catch during 7-on-7 passing drills, and he made a nifty, one-handed grab in traffic on a low throw from Rodgers during a team period.

          * Humphrey's long catch down the seam also came with Hodge in coverage. Hodge has a way to go to earn a roster spot and hasn't stood out in a positive way so far. However, he's on the No. 1 punt and punt return units. So are Desmond Bishop, Jason Hunter, Tracy White, Humphrey and Michael Montgomery. Pat Lee and Charlie Peprah are playing outside on both units.

          * During the last team period, FB Ryan Powdrell and TEs Joey Haynos and Jermichael Finley opened with the starters. Later in the same period, DEs Jeremy Thompson and Jason Hunter got work with the No. 1 defense. Such mixing-and-matching is common during camp, but it's interesting nonetheless to see who gets the opportunities.

Wednesday is a two-practice day, with a shells session beginning at 8:45 a.m. and a padded workout at 6:30 p.m. As usual, keep it tuned here for updates throughout the action.

Evidently Aaron Rodgers was awful today per WSSP. I'm not surprised. He's about to lose his job if they let Favre compete.

I didn't hear anything that said he was awful. He was 16 for 21 with one pick. Scrutiny. Come on. Now, this is struggling.

Tarvaris Jackson wasn’t exactly sniper-accurate on Monday afternoon. In fact, he was extremely inconsistent. But that didn’t stop him from firing to Bernard Berrian again and again and again… Something Vikings fans can expect to see in the regular season as well.

With the team practicing in shorts after a full contact morning session, Jackson first found Berrian on the second play of 11-on-11 practice for a 30+ yard gain over two defenders.

About 30 minutes later, Jackson fired a 15-yard laser between and above a safety and a cornerback to Berrian, who reeled it in for a touchdown.

Jackson and Berrian hooked up a few more times as well, but when they weren’t making highlight reel plays they were instead struggling to figure out timing.

Twice during afternoon practice Marcus McCauley broke up passes from Jackson intended for Berrian. Jackson also threw a poor pass that was intercepted by Charles Gordon, and a few plays before that he mistimed a slant route, throwing a ball two yards behind Berrian.

Ten minutes after this chain of events, Jackson threw a jump ball to Robert Ferguson in the back of the endzone that was instead caught by Cedric Griffin.

“You just can’t do stuff like that,” Jackson said of the interceptions.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Thanks Harvey, that made me feel better.

More training camp stuff to keep the hope for actual football discussion alive:
                    https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com...174/1954/PKR03
The Packers did not announce the move to reporters, but Harrell is on the PUP list on which players count against the 80-man roster.
                    ......
Defensive tackle Ryan Pickett (hamstring) was placed on a non-football injury list. Pickett has yet to take part in a training camp practice.

Surprisingly, safety Aaron Rouse also was on the non-football injury list. He has been practicing the last two days but had an issue with his back during Monday’s run test.
                    ......
Williams injured his left hip flexor late in the Packers’ first practice of training camp Monday morning. He tried to take part in practice on Monday night but was too sore. It appears he likely will be out until at least Friday; the Packers don’t practice on Thursday.
                    https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com...171/1954/PKR03 Thumbs up

Success in the one-on-one pass rushing drill doesn’t always carry over to live football, so it might be wise to look skeptically at the domination by third-year defensive end Jason Hunter during training camp.

During the first three practices of camp, Hunter has won six of his 13 reps during the drill. At least two others could be called a draw in which he got significant push but probably wouldn’t have gotten to the quarterback. That’s a high percentage for any defensive end, especially one that hasn’t played much from scrimmage during his first two NFL seasons.

The 6-foot-4, 271-pounder from Appalachian State came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with a reputation for being a good speed rusher. While that hasn’t translated into pro success, it has allowed him to be a special-teams standout. He has yet to find a regular spot in the defensive line rotation; he has yet to record a sack in a regular-season game and he’s probably in for a battle to win a roster spot.

However, if he continues to win one-on-one battles, he might get a chance for increased playing time. On Tuesday, he even won a rep from the defensive tackle position by smoking guard Daryn Colledge with a quick, inside move.
                    Thumbs down

On the other hand, when a player flops in the one-on-one drill, it can be a sign of trouble. There’s reason to be concerned about the play of rookie tackle Breno Giacomini. He has experienced his share of problems.

The 6-foot-7, 311-pound fifth-round draft pick has a losing record (7-9) during the drill. Offensive linemen should win more than half of their reps.

It’s too early to say that Giacomini can’t pass block NFL players, but he’s struggling.

However, it should be noted he said he’s going through a significant change in technique that he said differs greatly from what he was taught in college at Louisville. Still, Giacomini has shown a troubling knack for giving up too much ground early, which makes it easy for defensive ends to push him back.
If Hunter keeps this up, he might be our answer for the DL difficulties.

Too bad about Harrell though. I wonder if he'll be put on IR to make room for Favre.

I'm sure, he probably did the crap that Favre is doing now and threatened to publically demand a trade. TT, knowing he invested 3 years and a first round pick and has probably a year or two of Favre left, said screw it lets go with the Kid and see what he can do.

GBM has heard from A-Rod that he'd demand a trade this year if he wasn't starting.

With all due respect, if the mainstream media is screwing things up, sorry if I'm more than skeptical of a poster on an internet message board.

                                If true, that'd be great.

Then again, I'm less worried about our D-line today than yesterday. According to JSO, defense won the one-on-one drills today 15-6-1. KGB even pulled a nifty move and got around Clifton.

It seems we might have more depth there than we had thought.
