I guess I just miss taking some risks to win games and being a little more aggressive.

ya, couldn't agree more.. just not that same exciting feeling.. the Packers had an aura around them with Brett.. now they're just another team without an identity.. kinda sad
Did you guys get the same feeling when Mr. Aura was leading our team in 2005? Remember, we lost every single close game we were in that year too, while Mr. Rodgers was still trying to figure out an NFL playbook. But they still had that Favre aura around them, so what gives?

I know, injuries, but the same has happened to our defense this year. I remember Peprah starting at safety one week, and Desmond Bishop starting at OLB. I can remember rookie Jeremy Thompson starting at DE. We've kinda had the same bad luck as we had that year, yet have already won 1 more game than we did that year with a first year starter at QB.

All in all I can't really blame Favre being gone for the teams struggles this year. It probably had a little bit to do with it, but it certainly isn't the difference between 13-3 and where we are today. There's bigger problems with this team today.

GBR, Aaron Rodgers took a risk today at the end of the game that ended in an INT. It's not like he doesn't take chances when trying to win games. Brett would take those chances too, sometimes for the better, and sometimes for a pick. I like to see Rodgers taking chances too, but only when it's called for. I can't really blame him for the INT he threw today, because I couldn't really blame Favre for the INT's he would throw trying to win late in games. But it goes to show anyway that he isn't afraid to take a chance when the situation calls for it.

I can only imagine how much worse this team would be if Rodgers took just as many chances as Favre took, because a lot of what worked for Favre isn't going to work out the same way for most other QB's. Odds are most of those chances would have blown up in our faces if Rodgers took them. Plenty of them blew up in our faces even when Favre took them. Rodgers is no Favre, so I don't see things being better for us if Rodgers played his whole game like Favre did.

did you watch the end of the game?

whats shes saying, at least I think what shes saying is... she never though Rodgers would drive us down and get us a win... with Brett she woulda had high hopes... now we just sit and wait til he implodes and throws a pick or runs outta downs...

      • Look, #4 would of made a difference this season. I think it's obvious. His struggles witht he jets was expected, yet he has played well enough to somehow still be leading his division, and have yet another winning season under his belt.

In the three biggest games the jets had all year to this point, Favre was money. Arizona, Tennesee, and at NE. Favre came up big in the biggest games the jets had. The next one he needs to be big in his against Miami, then naturally the playoffs should they get there.

The difference with #4 is, in 5 or 6 of our losses, when AR had the ball in his hands with a few minutes to go and a chance to win, Favre prolly pulls out half of them. Sure, a couple MAY end in ints, but the point would be that Favre does still win just over 50% of the games when he is put in that situation, a baffling stat. He's already done it this year for another team twice.

I miss #4, because despite the woes on the Jets - Everyone understands he is the leader, and he breads confidence into the entire team. They expect to win,a nd it shows. We expect to compete, but not win, and THAT shows.

The question is: What does #4 do in the playoffs? Does he have any magic left in that arm for the big games? We may get the chance to see. Go Jets.

I think thats the number 1 question for Brett Favre fans. Can get saddle up one more time and ride off into the sunset? I think he can. I think he wants it so bad though that sometimes that hurts his play and thats when he starts to force balls no one should ever try. He feels that he has to make that play because no matter what anyone says, and like he said in his press conference, "it gets hard to be Brett Favre" ... I hope he relaxes, goes out and just plays football and allows his two stellar running backs to help him out and when it does get time to make a play, don't force something thats not there. He feels hes running out of time and if he doesnt make a play at that moment, he'll never get the chance again and thats a dangerous thing with Brett Favre.

          • Not a chance Favre wins more than 1 game in the playoffs, the Jets as a team are just not that good. I can tell a lot of you never played football because I see this brought up a lot. Football is a TEAM sport. It takes an entire team to win championships not just one man.

Yea we sure do miss him at DL and OL. He really helped those struggling lines. And al lthose times he filled in for Barnett when he was injured. Man he is such a good MLB.

Favre also was a good safety when he stepped in when our starters were hurt.

He woulda been awesome on this team.

              Wait... what?
I am better looking than you.

Brett's TEAM is good enough to beat anyone in this league. They have a good defense and they can run the ball real well. Add that with Brett being able to have a game where he can carry them on his back in the 4th quarter and theres no reason to think they couldn't win a super bowl.

Its fine that you don't like Brett anymore but come on dude. No one thought the Giants would win a game in last years post season, look how they did....

Difference is RECOGNIZING where you are in the game. 50 seconds to go around mid field, you don't start forcing passes.

1:30 left in a game, you don't chuck it deep in double coverage. I am not saying Brett doesn't make questionable decisions, but under two minutes he has pretty much been money his whole career. He gets less risky and drives the field, only going deep in one on one situations. It's different earlier in the game: He knows he can still get the ball back. Under two minutes, Favre rarely took the sort of risks rodgers has two weeks in a row when THAT MUCH time is left on the clock. He'll take those shots when under 30 seconds left around his own 30, not with plenty of time to drive the field, timeouts in the back pocket, etc.

Rodgers, as MM put it, needs to work on not getting overagressive in big moments.

You must not watch many jets games. Their Defense is as bad as the packers, except, they don't get the turnover production the packers D gets. So, technically, they are worse. Yeah, the D "bailed" out Favre, but that same D also gave up 27 points in the game, and ton a of yards.

It was not a good game by the jets in general, they were just the better team and got a fluke play towards the end to win it.

The Jets have the ABILITY to beat any team in the NFL. Most teams do. Have you watched the Lions lately? They are losing, but not by much anymore. They can beat anyone on any given sunday. So can the pack. So can any team in the NFL.

The reason some feel the jets have a chance to win every game they walk into is because #4 is at QB. Say what you want, but every expert, analyst, etc. will all admit even at 39, if Brett is your QB your team automatically has the ability to beat any team you face. Doesn't mean you will, but it means that other areas can play like shit, but Brett can go off on you and win it pretty much on his own.

That is total confidence. He has it. AR doesn't. AR may get it, and I hope he does. As of now, Brett is still a better leader, and possibly abetter QB in general.

With under 2 minutes, Favre has been money occasionally - not consistently - throughout his whole career. But expand this to include overtime, when it is also no guarantee he'd get the ball back. The 2 postseason overtime INT's this decade are just the icing on this cake. Favre has cost his team games by being overagressive, and to say that's not true is silliness. Anyone with a pair of eyes and a TV set can figure that one out...

But proportionately you are right, Favre has been successful in 2 minute drives more often than Rodgers has. Even proportionately. I'd just wish Rodgers wasn't put in that position every week to begin with, especially after having put together a winning scoring drive with 5 minutes to go in the game.

yeah, that int seemed to kill all their momentum.

But hey, they won. On to the next game. I predict 3TD's by Brett this week. It's been awhile since he had a big game like that, he's due.
