  • Favre couldn't get his way with the Packers, but he eventually had his way with the Jets. And then the filthy scumbag got them fined by ratting them out on the injury report.

    Comment

    • I fully believe he wanted to play for the Vikings all along. He bull shited the Jets into thinking he was retiring and they released him.
      Draft Brandin Cooks WR OSU!

        Nope!

Favre gave a clear signal to the NY Jets that they shouldn't count on him playing another season with them and should move forward at the QB position.
Why, after he retired, did he ask for his release? Please explain. I know it is impossible for you to find any fault with Favre, but please give me one reason why he would have asked for his release.
** These quotes in the body of this post ... come fr. the last game of the 2008 season Miami 24-Jets 17 post game interview.

        Here's the LINK:

Holy Mackeral Andy hold on, please.

Re: Brett Favre I have always called it straight. I don't mix nuts and bolts. On whatever agenda you stand you cannot preclude the basic facts.

It's just as I reported in my last post. I will repeat it as I read the news back then and that was before the 2009 NFL draft and not long after The 2008 NFL season came to a close as best as I can re-call Favre severing his ties with ' the Jets ' organization.

Again: I recall it this way Bossman641:

Favre gave a clear signal to the NY Jets Organization that they shouldn't count on him playing another season with them and should move forward at the QB position. That was good on his part as then 'the Jets' could do just what Rex Ryan said they did. Target a good prospect in that upcoming draft. They did and managed to secure the QB that today is playing as well as any QB in the NFL at this point in our curent season. Mark Sanchez is playing super for the Jets at QB so Favre didn't exactly throw 'the Jets under any bus. He for his own and private reasons wanted to move his career in a different direction. His reasons his personal choice living in a democracy and of his own free will. The Jets saw no good reason to hold him back and giving how he played for them for the first eleven games of the 2008 season. Why would they? He helped take them from 4 wins in 2007 to 9 wins in 2008 and the Jets were 8-3 in their first 11 games and the injury to Favre was a big factor in the Jets missing the plaoffa and Favre blamed himself for that failure.

** On Favre's performance down the stretch for 'the Jets' in 2008…

** I know we’re ultimately judged by wins and losses. I’m well aware of that. It was a good feeling for me. I can’t thank this organization enough for that opportunity. I wish I could have held up my end of the bargain. Brett Favre

        and

** Down the stretch, it wasn’t good enough. I have no excuses. I would love to sit here and tell you that it was this and it was that, but I’m not going to do that. Bottom line is it wasn’t good enough. I’m sure everyone is going to say he’s old, washed up and gray. Maybe they’re right. If I was an expert then I wouldn’t have struggled down the stretch. The only thing I know is, do I feel completely healthy? No. Did I start the season completely healthy? Probably not. In my mind, I did everything I could do and it wasn’t good enough. ... Brett Favre

For reasons that are suspect he remained at QB for ' the Jets ' in spite of that injury. There was a price paid for that. Was that decision to sustain him behind center all Favre's? Of course not.

** quotes from that Miami Vs Jets final season game and Post game interview by Jets HC Eric Mangini :

** On if Favre mentioned his shoulder was hurting…

        No. Jets HC Eric Mangini

** On working with Favre during the past year…

It’s hard to hold that all up in a couple of sentences. He’s a Hall-of-Fame player. He’s got great energy. He’s a great professional. He brought all of those things to the team. I think a lot of people learned things from him. I think we’re a better team for him being here. I appreciate the relationship we had and the one he had with the team. Jets HC Eric Mangini

** More Quotes fr. Favre after that final game of the 2008 season:

        ** On his shoulder…

        It’s been better. Favre

** On if his shoulder is sore…

You could say that. That’s been for quite awhile. We should know more tomorrow. Favre

** On if his shoulder affected his performance…

It would be easy to sit here and make excuses. I’m sure that during the course of the year that there were some throws that I know I could make, but I didn’t. Other times, I made some good throws. I hope that it was not a factor in my throws this year. We’ll know more tomorrow. Favre

** On if he is getting an MRI tomorrow…

        Yes. Favre

Speculate the response on that one as you may please, but support yourself in that regard please with published facts. What would that have to do with last season ( One of, if not Favre's best ) or this season? One that's only three games short for 'the Vikings' and could get really long for Brett Favre and his team really soon, given the difficulty of their next four games? The Jets, Packers and Pats on the road and Dallas in Minny. They could be shot out of it by November. You can be in your glory Bossman641 in the event of that reality.

        Check that out, please.

What reason would the Jets have for hanging onto Favre's rights after going to Sanchez in the draft and Favre clearly stating he had no plans to return to New York (Jets) to play in 2009.

Any decision he made to ask for his release didn't give 'the Jets' any hassel. So why do you get your Fruit of the Looms all in a bunch? Your just a fan. Brett Favre is a professional athlete and a QB with as Rex Ryan says . An awesome resume and a fine body of work. As a person and as a professional football player. Shouldn't he ask for his release and play where he wanted to? In the world of professional sports was his decision and desires so strange or unethical?

        No way.

It's high time those of you that find difficulty with Brett Favre as a Viking get set to possibly enjoy seeing him and his new team. Finally pumelled by ' the Green Bay Packers' and hope for that. Let go of the ' little boy tantrums ' of all the morality and ethical or not bullshit. The Green Bay Packers let go of Favre and Favre moved on eventually we saw both sides get to right.

Some Packer fans want to beat on Favre forever and all I know is that a final decision was made to go with a new QB in Green Bay and Favre was dealt to 'the Jets. End of story.

** More quotes fr. that same post game interview:

** On if he is undecided about playing next year…

I am. The obvious choice would be a quick decision based on what happened. It’s a hasty, irrational decision based on what’s happened. I’ll go home and get away for a week or so, we haven’t really talked about it , and make the right decision. Favre

** On if he will make the decision before the Pro Bowl…

I don’t know. I’ll talk with Mike [Tannenbaum], Eric [Mangini] and Woody [Johnson] about it, but I don’t know. Favre

** On his relationship with head coach Eric Mangini…

I had a lot of fun with Eric. I really respect him, his staff and the work ethic that he brings on the field. Guys practice every day. I really enjoyed that. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t enjoy about it. I just wish we could have gone a little further. Favre

** On what he will consider in terms of deciding to return for another year…

First and foremost, physically is something that I have to pay attention to. If I don’t feel right — I’m 39-years old. That would be the first thing. Then we’ll go from there. Favre

** On if he is happy he returned for another season…

There is only one team that ends on a high note. This is not a high note, but I consider this season, when I look back at it, whether I play or not, I’m glad that I made this decision to come here and play. I knew the odds were against us. I knew the expectations were high, but I consider that a huge challenge. One game, one season — I’m not going to hang my head. I can sit here until I’m blue in the face and say how I expected us to go on and how disappointed I am. I know that every guy in that room is, but it is what it is. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It was a lot of fun. It was tough, but that’s what it was all about. Favre

** On if the season has been fun for him…

When you lose, no. I love to compete. I hope that every guy in that locker room, if you talk to each and every one of them, they would say that they enjoyed playing with me. There is way more to this game than statistics. I can say that because I have all the good ones and all the bad ones. The memories that you make in the locker room, the bustrips and the planerides, practices, they can’t keep stats for that. Those guys in the locker room will tell you I had a lot of fun and hopefully was a lot of fun to play with. Unfortunately we didn’t get it done, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Favre

** On if there is a moment from this season that makes him glad he came back…

The Tennessee and the New England game were huge games for us. I look back at this season and it was quick, it was a whirlwind. There were highs and lows. As I thought about it this week, knowing it could be our last week, I’m glad I came. There are high expectations, which is fine. It didn’t work out. That’s disappointing. This team is a good team and we’ll continue to get better. I can think of practices, meetings and games — it was all worth it. Favre

** On what he learned from the off-season last year…

I do know this: You never know. We’ve all made decisions at one point or another in our life and thought it was a done deal. It’s funny how your mind wanders off, changes and argues with yourself. You never know. There are obviously a lot of reasons for what went on last off-season.

We’re all to blame, the parties that were involved.

We’ve both moved on. Once again, I’m glad I came. It was not the 17 years in Green Bay. I really like a lot of these guys and the opportunities that were presented for me.
        Favre

** On if he will do anything differently this off-season…

I have no idea. I don’t know. Favre

** On if he can picture himself playing with another team next season…

[Laughs] No, but then again I couldn’t see myself playing with the Jets last year. Through this process that took place last off-season, the one thing about Mike, Woody and Eric — I felt like I was wanted again.
They went all out. That was a good feeling.
        Favre

The last time I checked the NFL is a professional Football League and Favre is a certain Icon still in that league. Why behave so petty and disregard the facts.

Brett Favre is a pro athlete and certainly has demonstrated the exceptional skills that makes him desirable at QB for any team serious about contending. Untill it turns around to something else why not consider getting over yourself and enjoying the drama of the competion as it unfolds as we prepare to supplant the Vikings as NFCN Champs?

Does Favre, with ' the Vikings ' scare you man? I hope not.

We're dealing just with Pro Sports and a Pro athlete. Not some perverted or otherwise psychotic assaulting someone you love. or ... Some fella invading your home and stealing your Green Bay Packer player card collection or your favourite Packer jersey. Favre didn't get in a hit and run with your redest truck or come over for a brew and drink the whole cooler full while you visited the 7-11 for nachos and salsa.

Come on man. Get a grip on yourself.

If not then let go of all the lousy small minded incrimminations of Brett Favre stay inside and wait to cel e brate two wins over his Vikings this season.

and I ask you again Bossman641.

Does Brett Favre wearing ' purple and gold ' scare you so bad that you have to constantly undress all he's ever accomplished? Arrange his personal affairs to get the knots out of your nose that spites your face.

Take the glory as it may come when we take down some Viking ass, in just a few short weeks time. Get off the small minded small mwn's bandwagon that wants to piss all over a great Green Bay Packer Legend.

Bossman641 and anyone else on this forum that opposes me and my position RE: Brett Favre and my God given right to see more than Packer football yet love the Green Bay Packers Organization.

All of you. Please ... Smarten up. Grow up.

Lean another way and place your energies in a direction that will better secure a Packer victory in terms of right karma or pay the damn price as the Vikings walk all over our team again this season. Their QB is still last time I checked.

        Mr.Brett Favre.

If that fact means dick all to you Bossman641 (or any of you people that sadly and pathetically hate Favre and post here at Packerrats). Your in need of a wake up call. Defeating that Vikings team with Brett Favre behind center will be nothing but a well executed chore by our coaching staff and a real deterrmination to win on behalf of all the players that coaching staff can field. Packer Nation hating Brett Favre only fires up Brett Favre and 'the Vikings. TRUST THAT. It's the Law of the Universe people.

It's the Law of Good Vs Bad Karma. Is hatred a good thing anytime in any circumstance? You be the judge of yourselves in terms of that queestion.

Good things come from good not ugly. PLEASE ... Smarten up !!

I don't mean to be harsh, but for the sake of all that's sanctimonious please get on the good karma bandwagon. We need all of that that we can muster.

Please stop the fruitless ridicule and suppositions that mean ZERO when it comes down to the Green Bay Packers Vs Favre and the Vikings. It's all about winning those matchups and hopefully supplanting 'the Vikings" at the top of the NFCN. That has nothing to do with the fact that Favre was and will remain a Green Bay Packer great and an all time NFL great. It's all about the drama Packer fans. All about the competition and bad feelings about Favre did or didn't do this should be put to the side as today they are based in the most part on bias and pregudice and over emotions and bad feelings and anything else bad that are all really moot.

        It's really here (and again):

** On what he learned from the off-season last year…

I do know this: You never know.

Woodbuck, I am simply asking your opinion. You know how I feel about Favre and I know how you feel.

When Favre retired from the Jets and told them not to count on him playing, why do you think he then asked for his release? Notice, I am talking about the first time he asked, before the draft and before Sanchez was on the team. What reason would he have to ask for his release when retired? In my mind, it was all an act. Try to get his release, back the Jets into a corner and basically force them to grab a QB knowing that he could then get his release after the fact.

What is your take on the situation?

Can that girl play running back Bossman641? Wheeuu !!

              I am not a psychic.

Maybe Brett Favre wanted his release when he did to line up a QB job with the Minnesota Vikings? That certainly wasn't my guess as he gave that caution to ' the Jets ' prior to their final draft preperations Bossman641.

If there is an NFL fan that enjoys Favre still playing and trying to win in the NFL more than I do. He's (she's) certainly been bless'd as an NFL fan to enjoy Favre's accomplishments as a football player. I certainly presumed that after the 2008 season with ' the Jets ', that I saw the last of Favre in the NFL.

The fact he unretired again in 2009 and is just playing pleases me. How some people incrimminate him or make him out to be some sort of immoral person over his desires to go to and win another Super Bowl. Is just sad in my opinion and respect for Brett Favre. I respect the fact we have a difference of opinion on Favre but he's a very decent person overall and one hell of a competitor in the Pro sports arena.

I will not change in that position Re: Favre no matter how anyone here might desire to ridicule or otherwise judge me. Brett Favre is my ' all time ' favourite Pro athlete and noone on this planet can take that away from me.

                  • Bossman641:

This LINK is just one account of the record on Brett Favre before he was forced ' by whatever ' circumstances, to depart the team that he always maintained that he owed so much to and loved and we love and fully continue to support.

I've been a dedicated Packer fan before you were thought of man. I will always love ' the Green Bay Packers ', and remain all of just that inspite of anything any member of Packerrats may maintain about me, that's to the contrary and would be in error:

Just try to read this article Bossman641 with an open mind. It may somehow alter your opinion of Brett Favre and his accomplishments and continued dedication to the sport he loves? He's simply, and in my humble opinion, 'a real beauty as a Pro athlete'. The man is also 'just human' and therefore isn't perfect.

I don't expect that all Packerrats will agree with me but ' in me ' it's too obvious why I admire his dedication to football as an active competitor inspite of any hardship and injury he's suffered and worked through to maintain an awesome record as an Iron Man of incredible respect in all of Pro sports.

Since he left the Packers that man has won 23 more games as his teams starting QB and started 35 more games excluding post season play. He had an enormous season last year with our arch rivals 'the Minnesots Vikings'. Passing for 33 TD's and over 42000 tards with only 7 picks. He won 13 regular season games as ' the Vikings ' starter at QB.

In 2008 he as a New York Jet led that team out of the cellar or 4 wins in 2007 to an 8 and 3 record before he was hurt. The Jets stuck with hin inspite of his injured arm as they obviously felt he gave them the best chance to win as their QB. That move back fired on the Jets but Favre gave his best as he generally has.

Her's 'the article that highlights his career as a Green Bay Packer and attempts to inform the reader of Brett Favre 'the Man he is'.

I hope that you can find some peace and enjoyment reading this Bossman641.

Brett Favre's next TD will be his 500th in regular season play and his 58th TD since he departed the Green Bay Packers in possibly his 36th start with the Jets and Vikings combined.

I expect that you'll see that TD next week on MNF when the Jets host 'the Vikings', and if you can catch that game Bossman641.

Maybe Ryan wanted Favre back but Favre didn't want back. He retired, asked for his release "just because" and was rebuffed, then asked again and was granted after the Jets drafted Sanchez out of necessity.

What is your take on the situation?
                      and again it's this:

Rex Ryan says he would have tried to bring Brett Favre out of retirement last year to play another season in New York if the team hadn't drafted Mark Sanchez.

                      Here again is the LINK:

                      • Right, Ryan would have taken Favre back if they hadn't drafted Sanchez. My feeling is that Favre played a game, just like he has for the past 4-5 years. He wanted out so he could go to the Vikings. That's why he asked for his release after retiring. Once the Jets drafted Sanchez they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Those are the kind of actions that make me not like Favre. I know all about his stats and history. I also know about his actions. To me, he comes across as a self-serving jerk who has been coddled and only cares about himself. You are willing to overlook those flaws because you enjoy watching him play. Understandable, just not the road I choose to take.

Some fella invading your home and stealing your Green Bay Packer player card collection or your favourite Packer jersey. Favre bdidn't get in a hit and run with your redest truck or come over for a brew and drink the whole cooler full while you visited the 7-11 for nachos and salsa.
This is good stuff. Since Favre didn't assault me, invade my home, steal my stuff, or commit a hit-and-run, I should 'enjoy the ride.'

Well, yes, Mr. Woodbuck, it is very good that Mr. Favre isn't a homicidal maniac, and that being so, I will now look past all the garbage that took place that got him to my most hated sports rival (Again, to assuage your fluttering heart, I mean 'hated' only in the sports competition sense, not 'hated' in the sense that I will perverted or otherwise psychotic assault someone Favre loves) and kick back and enjoy the competition. Ahh, the drama of the NFL! The jolly good nature of high-minded, spirited, collegial competition! Funny stuff for a Tuesday morn, Woodbuck!

                          • Am I the only person who sees no contradiction between Bossman's account and Woodbuck's? Favre did not want to play for the Jets and wanted to play for the Vikings.

He told the Jets to plan to be without him. He asked for his release twice. The second time, after Sanchez was drafted, he was granted his wish. He signed with the Vikings. What possible confusion is there?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

                            • He also specifically said he signed with the Vikes out of spite. His own words.
