But he is more effective than Tolzien.

This defense against the run game collapsed back to 2012 standards. Its clear they missed Wilson.
    And Jolly.

I thought Flynn was more effective because he was making quick decisions for the most part, getting the ball out to the receivers/backs and letting them work or throwing it away. It actually looked a little closer to how the Broncos run their offense, though much less well-orchestrated.

I was wondering a bit about the couple free runs that Opie ILB got up the middle a couple of times. Was that something that Flynn missed? I noticed they had Q go right through the middle for 10-11 yards right away on the series after the free sack by the Vikes.

I hope Sherrod sees some snaps.
Did Sherrod play? We had to go the Packer bar to watch the game - and why I didn't post during the game - and we couldn't hear the announcers very well.

Then tolzien throws one of his patented screen plays the hits a defender rigt in his hands but he drops it

At least the d looks better
Even tho Tolzien got sacked on that first play at least MM wasn't afraid to throw it.

"fire capers, and fire the next guy on the field that makes a mistake. make a statement" and i agree. what we have seen from the defense has been unacceptable. if raji doesn't want to be here anymore, then bench his fat ass. if tramon drops another int, bench him. if hawk misses another sack, get him off the field

do something to get the attention of the defensive players, these guys have to have some kind of fire lit under their asses
Tolzien was so inaccurate and so bad in his decisions that the D never had a chance again. 3 and outs, bad field position etc. The D certainly bled yards vs. the rush, especially after they were gassed, but they did manage to get some stops once Flynn kept them off the field for more than 27 seconds. Remember it was 20-7 when Flynn came in, and a lot of that damage was done due to the offense hanging them out to dry.

Football is about a symbiotic relationship involving all aspects of the game. When one of the aspects stinks on ice the rest tend to smell rotten as well. The reason I don't buy the playmaker theory is because massive holes can't be covered by a great player on another part of the field. If it could we could cover for Newhouse.

Massive talent. CM3, Perry, and Neal are very good talent at OLB. Daniels, Jolly, Raji, Datone, and Pickett are deep talent for a 3-4. Hayward, Shields, House, Tramon are deep talent at CB.

The problem is that we NEVER have the talent on the field together. Injuries are forcing us to play some very week players at all times and it is making the defense look worse than the talent is.

Now please come back with an elaborate post like "you're full of shit bobblehead."
i kind of agree and disagree with you

i agree we do have the talent, but i disagree that the reason we suck is because they aren't on the field together. i think even with injuries, we have enough talent to be a very good D. i think its the coaches that are solely to blame for the talent not being able to play together

Flynn at least throws the ball where it belongs (including the second row at times). That lead to 2 PI calls that we got because he threw it to the single coverage and allowed his receivers to make plays.

A laptop and WIFI at the premises would have done the trick.

Any bars with WIFI down there?

Jolly would have been a better injury sub than Worthy for Wilson, but I thought Wilson was hanging tough.

That ILB was an injury sub and his rush straight up the gut looked like something the Packers never expected to see.

Flynn was also more effective when the pocket got small, he did not bail to a bad side and stayed calm. Allen really picked it up at the end of the game versus Back as well.

                    • I think part of the problem on defense is constantly rotating bodies. Like Williams last week as a late starter at outside CB, someone knew gets thrown in and by the time they get used to all the hand signals and adjustments its been 3 weeks of a mess.

Once they have it down they get moved because someone else gets hurt.

I will say this: gap discipline broke down today like it did last year especially early saw Raji, Jones, Hawk and Matthews get out of shape). It seemed to get better. But then something fell apart again late and in OT.

                      • You could argue that the scheme is sound and the execution is not, and the personnel needs to change.

You could argue that the scheme is not sound, and that it does not fit the present/healthy personnel and needs to change.

What is not up for argument is the fact that we are not getting results with either the personnel and the coaching staff, and something needs to change, and will likely be parts of the coaching staff if they don't get their act together.

Aaron Rodgers does not play defense.

Best quote of the day. Confused is an excellent description. But doesn't that mean coaches and/or scheme not correct for the guys who are playing.

                          • Just way too many instances of looking like keystone cops. On the surface it certainly looks like talent sucks, but I agree it could be scheme and/or coaching.

Exactly. I don't think its a cioncidence our best offense came out of the no huddle. Tolzien may have a better arm but the odffense has no rhythm when he's in there and MM has time to second guess his calls and try to be too clever.
