    Craig Turner ‏@ct17draftnut 51m
Quick comp pick thoughts. Josh Brown counting is a rule change, breaking previous examples of players not counting when signed midseason.

    Craig Turner ‏@ct17draftnut 50m
Interesting that Umenyiora, on team option, counted, but Stephen Jackson, on player option, did not count. No logic in that.

    Craig Turner ‏@ct17draftnut 46m
Osi counting shows new available contract strategy. Add automatically voided years to end of contract. Spreads out cap hit over fake years.

    Craig Turner ‏@ct17draftnut 19m
@PFF_Pete @JimmyKempski There is supposed to be a tiny performance-based adjustment to comp picks, but it is so small as to be irrelevant.

    Craig Turner ‏@ct17draftnut 31s
@Jason_OTC @SandoESPN @Cianaf Coles renegotiation I believe lopped off a year. Was SJax similar? Contracted year turned to player option?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

what the fuck did the lions do to get a 4th?

they lost a bunch of shit. the only real talent they lost was avril, and he signed a short term deal in seattle, and then the lions brought in reggie bush

      that just doesn't seem right

        DETROIT Lost:
Cliff Avril, Gosder Cherilus, Justin Durant, Drayton Florence, Sammie Lee Hill
Gained: Reggie Bush, Jason Jones, Glover Quin

Avril and Cherilus apparently, though Turner did not think Avril would count.

But don't you think some people are wondering how the hell the Packers got a 5th for someone named Erik Walden? Like maybe Ravens fans who saw their team get the same for Ed Reed.

Maybe, but not Ravens fans. Reed is very diminished and didn't even play in all 16 games.

Quin and Bush should have canceled Cherilus and Avril, but instead Quin's contract did not and they picked up the 4th.

Just a gift because their city is a wasteland of degenerates. We all feel bad about that.

                6. The round of the pick awarded is primarily determined by the annual value of the contract signed. Signed players cancel out lost players with equal contracts, then lower contracts, before canceling out higher contracts.

Gosder Cherilus was 5/$35 mil (7)
Cliff Avril was 2/$13 mil (6.5)
Sammie Lee Hill 3/$11.4 mil (3.8)
                Justin Durant was 2/$2.4 (1.2)
                Drayton Florence was 1/$940K

                Bush 4/$16 (4)
                Jason Jones 3/$9.5 mil (3.17)
                Glover Quin 5/$23.5 (4.7)

Bush was lower than both Cherilus and Avril on average per year, as was Quin. So they took out players of lower averages first. In fact, at first glance this looks like an egregious oversight by Turner. Almost seems more likely that something got lost in editing and posting. If tech Lions don't lose five guys who qualified, it would have cost them one of the high comp picks they got.

In fact here is the explanation for the projection for Detroit:

                  Lost: Cherilus ($6.9m), Avril ($6.5m), S. Hill ($3.8m), Durant ($1.2m)

                  Signed: Quin ($4.7m), Bush ($4m), J. Jones ($3.2m)

He was not counting Florence as a qualifying lost player. He did say elsewhere that the NFL did qualify players at lower salaries than before starting last year.

SPEAKING OF WALDEN..........the Colts Beat Writer was on pre free agency...and noted how the Colts were once again going to be very active in Free Agency.....he discussed last year's free agents
And noted the one man who greatly underperformed his contract and was a huge disappointment............was...........Eric Walden
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I'm guessing the Packers next year get a 5th for both EDS and Jones. Unless TT signs a qualifying UFA or 2.

4 of the top 98 picks means TT has a good chance of drafting some good talent, and possibly for being active in trading up/down. Agree they'll look to draft a WR. So TT has 9 picks to play with, and they aren't all R7's.

Also, getting a 5th for Walden was an unexpected pleasant surprise.

Be fair Red. TT followed fan recipe for success and traded up for Morgan Burnett. He then signed the player he traded up for to a monster contract, so sometimes old TT does it exactly as you would like him to...oh yea, he also followed fan model 101 by signing a big name over the hill DE to a nice FA contract as well. So in short, TT is coming around to the average fans way of doing things. All should be well now.

About time, is it just me or did this seem to take forever this year to get the official comp picks?

                                Let the mock drafts begin!
