Thompson doesn't take small guys in R1 and never drafts DBs under 5'11". This year he does.

Ryan Shaizer obviously, anyone selecting an offensive player needs to be slapped in the face.

            Brandin Cooks.

Okay, dude, you can try to slap me now.

The more I read about Shazier, the less impressed I am. He seems like a slightly uggraded version of a healthy Brad Jones. Meh.

Lets see we were #3 in total offense last season and #25 on defense, lets take a WR with our 1st pick in a draft loaded with WRs.

It depends on whether someone great falls to 21. TT has taken a lot of top defensive picks the past two years. If you can get a game changer you gotta take 'em. I don't see TT standing pat with the first two picks. I bet he moves up that #2 or trades down from #1 (or both) to capture two very good players, one defense, one offense, in the first two rounds.

The overwhelming response by fans when Thompson drafted Rodgers in teh first. We see how that turned out.

you don't (generally) draft for this year, you draft for 1-2 years from now. Maybe you're lucky (Lacy) to get one great starter as a rookie and then maybe unlucky (Bahktiari, Hyde) to get more than one decent starter due to injury. A lot of Rookies (D. Jones) aren't quite ready to play.

No one great on offense is going to drop to us at #21. You guys comparing Brandin Cooks like hes the next Steve Smith but hes the next Tavon Austin. Fast, small receiver who with struggle with press man coverage in the NFL. BTW we have a guy named Randall Cobb, why the hell do we need Cooks? We just going to load this team with WRs under 6 feet? We need a WR who will help us in the red zone, not another small target. We were ranked 26th in the league in red-zone touchdown conversions last season. Cooks isn't going to help us improve there and hes not even a good return man so we going to use our 1st pick on a #3 WR? Go defense round 1 and let TT work his day two magic picking a WR (Jennings, Nelson, Cobb).

Apples and oranges....I haven't heard Nelson or Cobb flirting with retirement as of late. Also don't remember anyone ever discussing Cooks being the #1 overall pick. I for one loved the pick at the time because Farve was 35 years old so it made common sense for us to start looking for a replacement. Where is the common sense in taking a WR with our 1st pick in a draft loaded with WR when we have a GM whos a stud at finding talent at WR in the later rounds.

Sitton/Lang/Su'a-Filo would be an amazing interior.

I understand that but do you think Hawk, Brad Jones, or any of the pieces of shit we have at safety are going to be better then Nelson and Cobb in 1-2 years from now? If so by all means go ahead and take a WR with the 1st pick. Rookie LBs can actually make impact their first season, out of the last 14 years the defensive rookie of the year has been a LB 11 times.

Xavier Su'a Filo is ok but hes not the BPA and he fits a power scheme team more then a zone which we run.

^ that may be true, but if new rules come down the pipe, it might be a good idea to be ready for a switch back to the Power Blocking system.

I think we should take votes for anyone who contributes in the thread, is that okay?
