  • APB, the "world's oldest profession" predates capitalism by a few millenia hahahaha.

I know some ...... let's just call them whiners ...... will get all in a tizzy about this, but I still say the whole concussion shit is an overrated problem. Borland and whoever certainly are free to decide not to play, but the huge majority of players, of course, do play and basically are going with the percentages - that they won't be in the tiny minority that get their brains scrambled. And for the huge money they get for playing what basically is a fun game, who can blame them? Yeah, I know, some of ya'all can and do hahahahaha. I assume it's a percentage thing with boxing and MMA also - and big money for some at least there too.

Even though it was a Packer taking the hit, which I hate, I have to say, the St. Brown hit was what everybody used to stand up and applaud and say YEAH, that's what football is all about back in the day. Ditto that for the beautiful Sheldon tackle late in the game. Or are some of ya'all gonna whine about that sort of thing too?
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Sure, money will help it survive, but that won't be enough. The people trying to kill it don't care about the money. Just ask the Star Wars franchise.
Why are you convinced they are trying to get rid of it and not just get rich off the torts?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

      • The Bears one is brutal. Picture of a coach who can't get over a playoff failure (double doing!).

          Brutal.

          James:

Six years ago I moved from northwest Indiana to Milwaukee due to a job transfer. As football season rolled around, I am making some small talk with my new colleagues about the upcoming season. That’s when they all find out that I am a Bears fan and not a Packers fan like the rest of them. One of them then says to me, “Well you live in Wisconsin now, so you have to root for the Packers.” I come up with what I feel is a logical and witty response: “If you had to move to Illinois for your job, would you change what teams you cheer for away from a team that you rooted for your whole life? No, you wouldn’t.” She then replied, "Of course I wouldn’t. I cheer for a good team.

          • It can always get worse:

            Zack:

It is the first game of the season, and the Bears were firing on all cylinders. 17-0 lead at halftime, Rodgers is seriously hurt, my Dad texts me to ask how many Super Bowl tickets I want. I’ve designated Khalil Mack to be the one who raises my future children. We finally have a coach who isn’t afraid to call entertaining plays and our QB is serviceable for the first time since Smokin’ Jay got here. I haven’t been this happy to be a Bears fan since sometime in January 2006.

But then I see it. I see Rodgers come out of the tunnel after halftime and the entire Jack’s frozen pizza I ate for dinner almost ends up on the carpet. I look at my girlfriend and tell her, “The Bears are going to lose this game.”

Fast forward, the Bears have given up 17 straight points. Rodgers is being Rodgers and Cris Collinsworth has an erection that is threatening to knock his mic off of his coat. Kyle Fuller drops what would’ve been a game ending Pick 6. I looked at my girlfriend again and said, “Rodgers is going to throw the game winner right here.” He threw a 75-yard touchdown pass. Bears lose 24-23. I should start fucking gambling.

Short term, tort $$$, but there's also long term plan. Also, not necessarily the same people. For the long view people, money isn't an issue.

How they could overlook that the Bears brought in a kicker named Blewitt is beyond me.

32 teams and a lot of idiocy. I think he gets overwhelmed. They close down reader/fan comment in under a week I think.

To those bitching about LeFleur not playing starters in the preseason: last night the Lions lost their best linebacker and starting center to injuries. Not sure of severity, but I think neither could bear weight...

Ragnow supposedly has a "minor ankle sprain"; no word yet on Jarrad Davis.
The Detroit Lions got good news on Saturday when they learned center Frank Ragnow avoided serious injury in a preseason game against the Bills.

Whether you believe them or not, going from non-weight bearing to 'minor' is quite a recovery.

                        • The Texans best O Lineman was also carted off - more and more and more good reason to not play your starters in preseason, even for one series.

Mort telling @ryenarussillo that it’s not all rosy with Jimmy G & Kyle. Safe to say the qb needs a solid night Saturday to quiet everything down

And then this about JG's play, a thread about the horrible performance with clips:

But behind it all, is the guy that moved an NFL Assistant Coach, the most loyal of middle managers anywhere, to say these things about Kyle Shanahan:

Washington basically ended Shanny Sr. career.
