But dammit, Joe, it seems like they start 0 - 2 every year. Seems. That's the key. It doesn't matter what their actual record is after two games.

I try so hard to educate you people. Then someone like you comes out with some crap like this, or PB actually analyzes how Rashan Gary played, including providing a link to the play he's analyzing - and all my hard work this preseason is gone, poof. And don't even get me started on Patler and his insistence on basing one's opinions on facts. That guy. Sheesh.

But I can't avoid tex. Wanted him to come back when the entire board was more negative when I was. Plus I got to compare him to Vikings fans I know

Refusal to see things like this is a form of Vikings fandom I have encountered in my life (not Ras, his eyes are wide open). Its ALWAYS the other team doing something, never a failure of their own squad.
Chicken or Egg? Was the Bear offense that bad or the Packer defense that good? I say clearly the latter. That's kinda the converse of your second line thing - always a failure of the weak other team (they suddenly get weak after we beat them anyway); Never the goodness of our own - in the eyes of the negativists and detractors, at least.

Next we play this Vikings super team with their star QB hahahahaha. What is the line gonna be after we cut them down even worse than the Bears?
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

          • Despite having the top defense (PA), the Bears offense last year was 9th in PF and 21st in YF. Obviously defense allows the offense to play a different kind of ball control horizontal offense, but they have little ability or go vertical. It’s not a great offense. If they stay the same as last year, I’m guessing mediocre again.

Tex you pointed out their lack of talent at WR relative to MN. Do you take that back?

I expect the Vikes will score more than 3 against the Pack even on the road. So by transitive property, Vikes O better than Bears O.

                • Vikings offense:

                  Comparable OL to Chicago
                  Much better running back
Two very good WRs vs One in Chicago
Cousins manages the game better and throws better in every way

Much tougher matchup for our defense. But if our defense is real, we’re gonna have hold up against tougher tests than Minnesota. Glad it’s at home. I do think our secondary needs a little more experience to reach its potential. But by years end, if there is some health bounces and these young guys gel together, there’s a chance it could be better than we hoped for going in.

                  • I wouldn't dispute that the Vikings will score more than 3 points. I probably wouldn't even dispute that the Vikings offense is better than the Bears. I don't think I ever said otherwise. I would dispute that the Vikings overall are better than the Bears.

About the points, I absolutely expect the Packers to put up MUCH more than the 10 they had last game. Our D, therefore, won't be under quite the pressure to hold the opponent down - especially if we get a nice lead.

As for the comparable details: I've heard the Vikings O Line has slipped from what it was a couple years ago, but on a par with the Bears, yeah. Much better RB(s)? I'd maybe say better; Much better? That's a stretch. Better receivers? For sure - the top two WRs plus their TE all are better than the Bears. Cousins? A big No Way to that! I remember him with Washington - a penchant for picks. Trubisky IMO is as good or better thrower and obviously much more mobile. Neither has ever shown much caution or good sense. We had to use a fairly vanilla pass rush to keep Trubisky penned in. Against Cousins, I expect Pettine to open it up and do some more exotic stuff.

                      • Tex, if King is healthy the whole game.... Alexander and King are gonna make it tough on Thielen and Diggs. It’s a good matchup. I like our chances too. I fully expect AR and MLF to have a much cleaner operation in their second outing and at home. Minnesota isn’t going to luck into that opening road game like Chicago did.

Nothing seems to have caught on. I'm not even excited for M4.

I'll just stick to calling him LaFleur.

I agree about those Packers' quality Corners, Tony Brown too - I was on his bandwagon before just about anybody else last year. Just the same, outstanding pass receivers are gonna shake loose occasionally from even the best Corners. One key is our Safetys - also high quality IMO - and using them to help in coverage. The bigger key, though, is getting some pretty extreme pressure on Cousins - which we will.

Rodgers is always gonna get pressured - given the O Line we have, and he'll overcome it with mobility and good sense like he always does. I expect it to be a little bit less than against the Bears, though, and I expect him to find a few more open receivers than in the first game. Also, considering that LaFleur is gonna continue to waste downs on runs like I don't like, I'm thinking they may break a couple for decent gains - as we didn't against the Bears.

                              • The Vikings have excellent corners and safeties and linebackers and DL. It’s not getting much easier. But it is at home. That helps with crowd noise. Also, MLF and AR and company get 10 days to clean up those operational missteps from Thursday.

Based on improvement within the brand new offense, and home field, I do expect the Packers to score about 20. Keeping Minnesota below 20 isn’t going to be easy. Tex, im with you though, I think we can get some pressure on Cousins once we get them to 3rd as long. Our defense is built to get off the field now so it’s gonna be a battle both ways.
