I hate having them run end arounds or other wide plays to the short side of the field. I'm thinking they were still on the early game script at the time. Run that play to the wide side even with Lazard and see what happens.

So Brees took what we gave him. Thats a negative? Everyone is telling me he can't throw it over 11 yards, but he still diced us. Kamara did a lot of the work, yes. Jones did a lot of the work as well. Its a team game. Brees was down his top WR as well. He didn't have a Lazard to take the reigns. An MVS to stretch the D, yet he Matched Rodgers and put 30 on us. Rodgers was GREAT. Brees was GREAT. The stats are what they are.Originally posted by run pMc View PostBrees didn't throw many passes more than 10 yards past the LOS. Kamara did all the work. They were all easy dump offs on an option route every team with a pass catching back should use (if LB uses outside leverage, cut inside; if LB is using inside leverage, cut outside).
Was easy pitch and catch, almost like when Holmgren would have Favre throw to Harry Sydney or William Henderson to make the short passing game an extension of the running game.
Seriously, it was some point early in the 3Q when I thought they should just put Jaire on Kamara and have the CBs press the other receivers (or at least play up on them to tighten the passing windows).
Belichick woulda taken Kamara out of the game in halftime adjustments (if not before kickoff). With Thomas sidelined and Kamara bottled up, Brees wouldn't have the arm to laser into tight spaces. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Not a negative at all, other than it didn't require much more than average arm strength or accuracy. My point was Brees' stats looked pretty darn good (and they were) but Kamara should get a lot of the credit, since he did a lot of the work in the form of YAC. If you went purely by Brees' stats vs. Rodgers, you might have expected NO to have won by a FG...but as they say stats don't tell the whole story.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostSo Brees took what we gave him. I give credit to NO (and Brees) for working with what they have and being competitive.
