  • Raiders Henry Ruggs To Be Charged With DUI Resulting In Death

    https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-wr-...lting-in-death

Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will be charged with DUI resulting in the death of another person following his involvement in a traffic collision at approximately 3:39 a.m. PT on Tuesday in Las Vegas, according to police.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday that officers responded to a traffic collision involving a Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Rav4. Responding officers located the Toyota Rav4 on fire, and fire department personnel located "a deceased victim inside the Toyota," according to authorities.

LVMPD identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Ruggs, who remained on the scene and "showed signs of impairment."

Ruggs was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, per police.

"The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs III that occurred this morning in Las Vegas," the Raiders said in a statement Tuesday. "We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time."

From what I just read, the Rav4 was sitting at a red light and Ruggs' corvette plowed into the rear of the Rav4 causing it to burst into flames.

He's going to be in prison for a while. Not sure the Vegas laws, but in Florida DUI manslaughter is 15 years.

Jesus, just shows you how scary it is that some idiot not paying attention or cocking off drinking can end your great life in a hurry.

How fast must a MOFO been going to kill a person *in a vehicle* at a stand still from behind?

In Nevada, it a class B felony to drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and thereby cause someone to suffer substantial bodily injury or death. Penalties include two to twenty years in prison, fines ranging from $2,000 to $5,000, and a three-year driver’s license suspension.

Since it resulted in death, I would think it will be closer to 20 years than 2.

I just talked to a girl this morning who drove past the firey aftermath. She was driving home from her job in a local casino. Had no idea it was Ruggs til I talked about the incident, then "Holy shit, I drove right past that. He had to be flying, it was a mess"

I would bet he doesn't serve one day. He will get as much as they can throw at him while not actually interrupting his career. In comparison a 17 year old girl who got high fell asleep and swerved off the road and killed someone on community service duty picking up trash in the median. She got 20 years. But this is NV. Its a very corrupt state in regards to this kind of thing.

Oof. I feel for him. You think you’re gonna drive home and it’s no big deal and then something like this happens. Ugh.

I’ll bet he does go to jail. OWIs have caused a lot of death and there are a bunch of lobby groups across the country like MADD and SADD and others that push for stricter penalties. A second OWI is worse than substantial battery the way it’s punished. One resulting in death is far worse.

I'm afraid I agree with this.

I don't. I think there would be too much of a public outcry if they try to give him preferential treatment because he's a Raider.

I really hope you are right, I really want to be wrong. I'm just cynical AF about these things anymore.

Without degrading into you-know-what, laws are enforced seemingly arbitrarily and sentences often don't make much sense. Don't get me going on sex crime sentencing......
