Good to see someone else remembers that Rodgers in the seasons before Love was drafted was not playing close to MVP level. U seem to remember starting a thread about it. He admitted it himself after the draft and rededicated himself to getting in shape and improving his mechanics. So by drafting Love we got Rodgers back to MVP level. The downside is that Love isn't looking even like Hasslebeck did at this point in his career.2025 Ratpickers champion.

THIS.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostAlternatively:
Rodgers was looking old and tired and injured for a few seasons and wasn't the HoF QB we had been seeing prior. Gutes prepared for the possibility that Rodgers might need to be replaced and drafted a guy just in case.
Rodgers, sensing he had been mailing it in for a couple seasons got all butt hurt and threw a tantrum rivaling my teenage niece. Gutes held his ground and wouldn't trade him calling his bluff. Rodgers eventually caved, saving face by getting a year lopped off his deal that would have run into his 40's. Then, just like Favre when he had something to prove after we shipped him out of town, Rodgers put up one of his finest seasons ever. Gutes is a genius who motivated Rodgers and got the best out of him.
Its easy to try and sell a narrative, but the truth is usually more nuanced.
Is why I was fine with the Love pick.

I wonder how love plays next week. One thing I liked was after his first 2 picks due to the receivers he kept pushing and trying. He can shake off Barclays. Nif he grows that bodes well for him.
He aint rodgers. But He might be Favre ishAll tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.

Also how about that dline depth. Might be better than expected.
On the other hand how about that secondary depth, might be worse than expectedAll tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.

Did they not go to NFCC that year? I feel like people undersell 2019. It wasn't amazeballs but I think he was doing pretty good all things considered.Originally posted by MadScientist View PostGood to see someone else remembers that Rodgers in the seasons before Love was drafted was not playing close to MVP level. I was probably Rodgers biggest critic in the mid-2010s. He looked like shit in 2017 and 2018 IIRC. But I think 2019 was pretty dang good and people thought he was back in general.

I wonder if they could cut and resign. That seems like _a lot_ of money for Dean Lowry.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostI read that Lowery is due to make $7.9 million, $1.8 million I think dead money if he is cut. With Slaton looking so good as well as Clark, Wyatt, and Reed, and now Heflin - I thought he looked ok too and Ford too is a possibility. I'd like to see them cut Lowery.

My guess is the Packers do not believe they need to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season, and want them available for an increasing practice load. I predict neither of the three will be active for week one.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostI just saw a report that Tonyan, Watson, and Jenkins have been activated from the PUP list. Excellent News.

I disagree. Week 1 is still 4 weeks away. Elgton said he's had no discomfort for a couple weeks now, but they held him out because they wanted to be closer to the 9 month mark. They probably won't play in preseason games, but I'll bet the aim will be to have them ready for Week 1.Originally posted by Teamcheez1 View PostMy guess is the Packers do not believe they need to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season, and want them available for an increasing practice load.
