Does he have value as a backup ? Or just to use because our cup is that bare ?

Ya'all were lucky assuming you got to see the Packers broadcasters. I watched on NFL Network and had to suffer through the damned Niner people.

The score, irrelevant as it was, was mostly the result of us playing lower level people than they did, that and late, our scrubs got outplayed by their scrubs.

I see I wasn't the only one who thought Etling looked better than Love. Yeah, he played against lower level D, but still. Love had a few decent plays, but he was off target as much as on target. And three picks, at least two of which were his fault? That is very unRodgerslike judgment. He had a couple others too that were too risky to throw. Etling seemed to show better sense and even better accuracy.

I thought the WRs looked pretty good, Winfree not so much, but Doubs, Toure, Davis, and even Amari. Amari looked great returning kickoffs - a lot quicker and less tentative. Did he even have a chance to return a punt? I think he still is the best returner they've used or talked about using. Tyler Davis didn't look good, and DeGuara pretty much stunk. If Dafney got in the game, I didn't notice him, same for Canella or whatever his name is.

There has been talk about passing less this year and running the ball more. That ain't gonna happen. As good as Goodson looked and Baylor too and Williams once also, even with Love and Etling, the passing was necessary to move the ball. The O Line just couldn't cut it.

On D, the higher level back ups weren't horrible. Most of the guys who give up big plays won't be on the team anyway. When the scrubs were in, Enigbare looked a little less bad than a lot of others. It seemed like they were trying to play the kind of D they would play with the big three Corners, but it didn't work with scrubs back there. And I'd never say good if any Packer gets hurt, but Leavitt was awful at Safety. I don't care if he's good on Special Teams, they ought to be able to find somebody as good for that who ain't such a liability otherwise.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

That’s a fantasy. Right now, the Packers would have to SEND a pick to someone in order to unload Jordan Love. It sounds like he is the same as always - very inconsistent. Great for a minute, then wildly missing receivers and making dumb decisions. You can win with a good defense and a game-manager type of QB, but you can’t win with what Love seems to be. I mean, we’ll see in the next two games, but it ain’t looking good.

Dude really likes Dubbs...............and Dude really likes Winfree and is running a soft campaign through the press to keep him. Reminds me a bit of White Jesus a while back. We don't have enough spots for the WR"s. They seem like a bunch off guys who might be good and who knows which ones take the next step.

Love only made one bad decision. On the last INT he tried to make a play even though the receivers had run the wrong route. But the 2 other INT's were drops that turned into INT's. If the receivers catch those balls, his stats are pretty outstanding. By rights he should have come out of the half with over 200 yards passing with at least 2 TD's and 1 INT. But most people didn't like the Love draft pick, so the bashing will continue.

I see I had back to back posts eaten by the machine. Oh well, its preseason so who really cares.

                  Love is a failure.
                  Alternatively:

Rodgers was looking old and tired and injured for a few seasons and wasn't the HoF QB we had been seeing prior. Gutes prepared for the possibility that Rodgers might need to be replaced and drafted a guy just in case.

Rodgers, sensing he had been mailing it in for a couple seasons got all butt hurt and threw a tantrum rivaling my teenage niece. Gutes held his ground and wouldn't trade him calling his bluff. Rodgers eventually caved, saving face by getting a year lopped off his deal that would have run into his 40's. Then, just like Favre when he had something to prove after we shipped him out of town, Rodgers put up one of his finest seasons ever. Gutes is a genius who motivated Rodgers and got the best out of him.

Its easy to try and sell a narrative, but the truth is usually more nuanced.

                    2) Get a definitive answer if QB2 is worth anything

Playing QB3 doesn't help with either of the above, thus I think it's stupid.
this is the gyst of one of the posts that was eaten. Love needs reps. My biggest knock on Rodgers at this same point was that he looked indecisive. That lasted about 4-8 games of him being the starter to be honest.

If I'm gutes I ask Rodgers to text me who he thinks the 6 we should keep should be. I'd take it under advisement. And it would give Rodgers motivation to not mention the 12 he thinks we should have kept to the press.

I count three. On the pick to the right side, he stared down the receiver for like 3 seconds, double clutched it and then sent a ball in high to a guy with two defenders bearing down on him. Those are dropped all of the time. The second bad play is the one where he had no sense of timing of the defender about to hit him. He threw up a wounded duck because he timed it poorly and got hit. The third is the Amari pick.

The game is too fast for him. Love stinks. And I was all for the pick and had hope. But that time has passed. Love stinks. No wonder Gute gave 12 a contract into his 40s and long after Loves 4th and 5th years. They gave up. It is time we do too.

                            • If Love was showing NFL mettle, Rodgers would have gotten the Favre treatment. The writing is on the wall.

                              • On the bright side, TJ Slaton was active as hell. That makes a 5 deep rotation on the DL. Rodgers is still here. We’ve got a shot this year. And probably next year.
