Still not sure why the league destroyed the evidence after the Rams/Pats superbowl saying there was nothing. Why not release it and put an end to it for good. Then the second offense of taping sidelines where they were fined and lost draft picks. I think the real issue is payback for being a douche at his press conferences. Not sure I have ever watched a coach be so douchie ever and I have watched a lot of sports in my 62 years, and not in an entertaining way, just painful to watch

In things can always be worse department, Vikings fire their GM and plan to replace him after the draft. The coach's fingerprints are on the decision, or are at least being referred to by whoever is leaking the reasoning and plan.

Minnesota’s ownership met multiple times following the season, holding extensive conversations with leaders, including Kevin O’Connell. They recently met again to finalize their moves, and after those discussions, decided to fire their GM, despite his new contract last offseason.
Veteran NFL exec Rob Brzezinski will run the Vikings' operations through the NFL Draft, Minnesota announced as part of the statement firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
The search for a new GM will go down after the draft. Like most teams in this position, expect a pivot, likely the opposite of what they just had. I’d expect an older school type with a strong scouting background, someone rooted in traditional evaluation and personnel building.
Long time Rats will remember Rob Brzezinski as one corner of the triangle of authority under a previous Vikings regime. The Ancien Régime Strikes Back!Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

jk, I didn't have much of an opinion one way or the other about Belichek until I read your post. Now, I'm more favorable - after reading that he treated the media pukes the way they should be treated.
As for the Vikings, I don't know all the details about Darnold's contract situation, etc., but he did play damn good for them, and then after they let him go, he has been damn good for Seattle - while the Vikings foundered, especially at QB, which pleases me a lot. That would seem like pretty good reason to fire the GM.What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Mike Holmgren could do that while smiling. Belichick was just a sour puss because he could be.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostTex, if you hate the media pukes, you've LOVE Hoodie Genius. Gosh they hated interviewing him. He gave them nothing
Will never forget Paul Zimmmerman complaining/admiring that every Holmgren quote felt like gold at first impression until he went back to review and write about it and found he really had handed him honey flavored non-sense.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. So McCarthy, Saleh, Harbaugh and Stefanski are retreads. Four of the nine. Interesting. For a while, the fashion seemed to be to hire someone else's hot NFL offensive coordinator, then it was a hot college coach running a seemingly new system, then someone else's hot NFL defensive coordinator. Oh, and I think there were two teams (the Raiders being one) who tried hiring mock draft talking heads as GM's. Which would be like hiring a Madden game superstar gamer to be your actual NFL coach and GM. But that could happen.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostRaider are planning to hire Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak as their HC. It can't be made official until after the Super Bowl. And what’s uncool is not a single Black, Asian or Turk was hired during this turnover cycle. I reckon, in a predominantly Black realm, it makes sense that a Black person serves as leader of the pack. With the rise of analytics, why hasn’t anyone hired an Asian? And futbol is offen compared to war - the Ottoman Turks have always been good at warfare.I don’t want a battle from beginning to end

Saleh is of Arabic/Lebanese descent. But the NFL's attempts at promoting hiring of minorities for HC positions doesn't seem to be working very well.Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostDamn, another Frog as head honcho?

I would say it works. Depending on what you think the goal is.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostSaleh is of Arabic/Lebanese descent. It works, with limitations. There are a much larger number of assistant coaches from minority backgrounds, more are coordinators and many more have gotten interviews and actual HC gigs. Like Flores, the opportunities are often shorter and not as often repeated. But that is still progress over the historical record. Saleh is an exception here to get another shot so fast.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostSaleh is of Arabic/Lebanese descent. The top jobs though are still to a large degree reserved to the dominant sub-species: retreads.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
