At various points in his career, some Viking fans thought more highly of Warren Moon, Brad Johnson, Randall Cunningham, Daunte Culpepper, and Brad Johnson again than Favre. Or, at least, that's what they will tell you.
I know of a Packer fan that thought GB would go 16-0 last year and is touting the same this year.
So, you'd rather have Brad Johnson than Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson than Aaron Rodgers?
You defeated your own argument with the Dilfer comment. Johnson won on a team that had one of the best defenses in history--like Dilfer. He has about as much chance as Mark Brunell at leading a team like the Vikings to the Super Bowl.
He said Rodgers rather than any QB the Vikings have, not Favre...how'd he get into the argument. Unless I completely understood the original comment.
Hey Jpooper, what was the W-L record last year of said QB's...I'm a results kind of guy...I see you like stats.....
You are more intelligent than that, aren't you? Seriously! That's the angle you want to work from?
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Read the thread closer.

I guess Harvey I am completely missing the point. Or I completely misread what was earlier said. Please explain why I'd want Rodgers over Johnson....
If the argument was Rodgers over McMahon and Jackson and O'Sullivan....then I say what has Rodgers shown thus far to warrent me wishing like all hell he played for my team?

"Rodgers rather than any QB the Vikings have" He has way more potential than anybody the Vikings can boast. He could have went #1 overall pretty easily to the sorry ass 49ers. A couple years behind Favre is gonna make him the next Viking slayer
1. A-Rod is smart. That's a good thing for a QB
2. A-Rod is a natural leader. That's a must for a QB.
3. A-Rod will work his butt off traing. That's an exceptionally good thing for a QB.
4. A-Rod is patient and happy to sit. That's a long term view for a rookie QB.
5. A-Rod has a chip on his shoulder, being passed on by 23 teams. That's a dangerous thing for the NFL at large. Only Leinart has a similar chip.
The press comments on A-Rod are positive, but the writers are genuinely surprised by how well he's developed in just over a year.
A-Rod is far less unproven than some give him credit for. He has proven that he is making the absolute most of even the slightest opportunity, he is willing to do what it takes and he is hungry for success.
What else could he have possibly "proven" to this point?
