Re: CRAP!!!!
Actually, he said yesterday that he always works out extra between practices. That's just him.Originally posted by boigaI was worried that Grant would push himself too hard when he got back. He kept talking about how he was working extra after practice to try and catch up... and now look what happened."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. Re: CRAP!!!!
That's what I was referring to. His extra workout when he wasn't back in football shape yet might be what got him injured.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersActually, he said yesterday that he always works out extra between practices. That's just him.

Didn't the Pack have a linebacker named Michael Hunt? You had to be careful with that one.Originally posted by BlueBrewerMy favorite was Sanjay Beach. Look at the Sanjay beach run. :POriginally posted by BallHawkOk, so over the last few years we've had guys on our team with the names of:The Packers added cornerback Scorpio Babers to their roster to fill the spot vacated when Brett Favre was traded to the Jets. Babers tried out for the team Wednesday. He’s 5-11, 194 lbs. and is out of Sam Houston State

What is up with GB and the weird names?

That's why he was always called "Michael" and not "Mike". No announcer with any sense would use "Mike" in that name!Originally posted by AtlPackFan

Evening Practice Stuff:
Defense ruled:http://www.packers.com/news/blogs/packerscom_blog/Highlights for the defense included two interceptions by rookie CB Pat Lee, a pick by CB Will Blackmon on a tipped throw by Aaron Rodgers, and a fumble recovery of a Rodgers snap by DE Jason Hunter.
"I think it is great film, I really do," McCarthy said. "That's what I was telling the offense. I thought defensively it was outstanding. I really like the way they were disguising their pressures."
McCarthy said there were too many pre-snap penalties and dropped balls for the offense.
"Frankly I think it's kind of good for them to get punched in the mouth right now," McCarthy said. "They had three or four good practices in a row, and this will be a really good experience as we move forward into the game planning."
Other notes:
http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/...er/index.shtml* Aaron Rodgers threw two interceptions during team drills, but largely was effective while going 15-for-25 passing despite playing behind a patchwork line during a difficult installation. He also had one bad exchange with fill-in center Jason Spitz.
Jon Ryan was 1-for-2 passing.
* Does anyone tip more passes than Alfred Malone? The 6-foot-4 defensive tackle had two more, one on which led to Will Blackmon’s interception of Rodgers.
Jon Ryan for MVP!!!
Edit:
-JSO says that Daniel Muir needs to improve if he wants a roster spot: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=781411
-GBPG is almost calling Swain a bust :http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/...131/1954/PKR03So far, Swain is making even the easy catches look tough.

You guys really ought to check out the "Packers training camp postcard" on SI: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ard/index.html
It's got a great take on the team from an outsider's perspective. Here's a quote to make BallHawk's day:
He also say's Pickett should be back in the next days, Brohm looks awful, and we should all be happy with 10 wins.• Remember the name Ruvell Martin when you get to the late stages of your fantasy draft. (Or, if you don't play fantasy, just remember the name, period.) The 6'4" third-year receiver from Saginaw Valley has shown flashes of brilliance, and he's tight with Aaron Rodgers to the extent that it's become a joke. Against Dallas last year, Rodgers tried to cram a ball into Martin and got chewed out for it on the sideline. When coach Mike McCarthy asked for an explanation, Rodgers quipped, "Ruvell, that's my man." Now teammates mimmick that line almost every day. It'll be tough to pass Jones, Jennings and Driver on the depth chart -- and he'll have to overcome some inconsistency issues to stay ahead of Nelson and Chris Francies -- but for now he's one injury away from being a solid contributor.
...............................
Also, Muir got injured during today's practice. Are there any FA D-linemen out there? Do you think Sapp would come out of retirement for us? http://packerrats.com/ratchat/postin...tpost&p=309321

Gradual improvement
While Rodgers' limited regular-season experience is well documented (seven games, zero starts, 59 pass attempts), he has shown annual improvement with each exhibition season.
As a rookie in 2005, he completed 20 of 37 passes (54.1 percent) for 172 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, six sacks and a 53.0 rating. In 2006, he went 22-for-38 (57.9 percent) for 323 yards, with three TDs, one INT and nine sacks for a 101.1 rating. And last year, Rodgers hit on 37 of 59 attempts (62.7 percent) for 382 yards, three TDs, no INTs and a 98.3 rating.
While topping those numbers would be ideal -- especially to silence critics and Favre-supporters -- coach Mike McCarthy and offensive coordinator Joe Philbin aren't so much concerned with Rodgers' statistics as they are with how he runs the offense, makes decisions and executes the intricacies of the scheme -- reads, protections, run-pass options and so on.
"We want to see him do his job," Philbin said. "We think he's going to play well, we expect him to play well. If the blitz occurs, we expect him to respond the right way. Whatever he has to do, we expect he's going to do those things.""There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I've been trying to monitor different writers takes on how Jackson has been so far. All seem to think he is better than last year and is both making better reads and throwing it quicker. The numbers he has posted in camps have been good, similar to what you posted on here about Rodgers last couple days. If I had to guess, I'd say he will be better than the 4th best QB in the division. I definitely liked what I saw in the preseason game. But all you can take from preseason is that at least he didn't look bad. Had a 137 rating for his qtr. of play.Originally posted by BallHawkI've heard some days he's not so good and other days he looks great.Originally posted by Chevelle2Anyone know how T-Jackass is looking in TC? Im just curious....
T-Jack just needs to find some consistency.
