I watched Jackson in the preseason game - he did look inconsistent. But he's got pretty good skills. He threw pretty well on the run once as well. But there were several pretty bad balls thrown as well. Nothing late over the middle or across the body as I recall."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. All seem to think he is better than last year and is both making better reads and throwing it quicker. The numbers he has posted in camps have been good, similar to what you posted on here about Rodgers last couple days. If I had to guess, I'd say he will be better than the 4th best QB in the division. I definitely liked what I saw in the preseason game. But all you can take from preseason is that at least he didn't look bad. Had a 137 rating for his qtr. of play.Originally posted by BallHawkI've heard some days he's not so good and other days he looks great.Originally posted by Chevelle2Anyone know how T-Jackass is looking in TC? Im just curious....
T-Jack just needs to find some consistency.
He was 8 for 11 and looked pretty decent He had one bad throw and had a couple nice throws on the run.

From what I can tell, he was shaky the first week and solid the second week. I took little from the preseason game. A ton of safe throws. A ton of movement plays. It seemed the coaching staff, rightly so, wanted him to get off to a good start. If I remember correctly, he did similarly last preseason.Originally posted by mngolfT-Jack just needs to find some consistency.
Now that I look, his stats were almost identical to last preseason. He went 8 for 11 for 83 yards in 2007. In this game he went 8 for 11 for 118 yards. He had a bad throw at the line of scrimmage that Bobby Wade caught and the corner made a horrible tackle attempt.
It was this play:
Give him the 2 yards he should have gotten, and he's 8 for 11 for 92 yards. Pretty similar.T.Jackson pass short right to 19-B.Wade to SEA 36 for 28 yards
Not to take any of the euphoria from Vikings fans, but it wasn't all that different from last preseason."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I didn't take too much from it. He looked ok, made some decent throws on the run. I absolutely can't tell you what he did in 2007 1st preseason game, way too long ago so I can't say if he looked better or worse. You always say stats rarely tell the story, (then use them yourself....Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersFrom what I can tell, he was shaky the first week and solid the second week. I've never said my stats are misleading.
Pointing out these stats here show that he did well statistically in the preseason game #1, and then did poorly in the regular season. I think that's valid.
Not going by stats, I remembered him looking okay last preseason. He looked okay in this game also. He can run. I've always said that he throws a nice slant. Last year, he struggled with his accuracy on longer throws (+20 yds) and he also had the deer in the headlights look at times. I didn't see anything from the game the other night that makes me think that won't be a problem. I also didn't see anything that makes me think he won't be better."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. Jackson = 137Originally posted by RastakWell, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Having a 137 QB rating is an indicator of an upcoming bad season. We'll see how your boy does in 30 minutes.
Rodgers = 79
I thought Rodgers looked better."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

You would.....
I thought they looked about the same. You point out Wade benefitted from a missed tackle and are strangely silent on Jone's TD. I liked Rodgers throw to Martin though and admit he's under more pressure. I thought Rodgers played a good game, but lots of safe throws.

I said the Jones TD wasn't a great throw, but it was catchable. The bad but catchable pass to Wade was a 3 yard pass. The bad but catchable pass to Jones was a 20 yard pass. You can believe what you want. I'll believe what I want. There were short throws for Rodgers (I think 9 of Jackson's 11 throws were within 10 yards of LOS), but Rodgers had to make more different types of throws. The drop by Driver was his most impressive throw of the night. He was getting hit low and threw a laser in between coverage. Those are the types of throws good NFL QBs have to make a lot in real games.Originally posted by RastakYou point out Wade benefitted from a missed tackle and are strangely silent on Jone's TD."There's a lot of interest in the draft. Most QB's passes are under 10 yards. They all get longer with YAC. And I could make an arguement that the shorter passes in heavier traffic are the harder ones to throw. I will agree with Ras and say I saw no level of play difference in the 2 QB performances. Things that could have been better for both but overall a positive performance and likely good enough for both teams to succeed this season.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersI said the Jones TD wasn't a great throw, but it was catchable. We've had a ton of nagging injuries, but it looks like the Vikings are getting hit pretty hard with injuries. They've lost their starting safety for 6 weeks. They've lost their top special teams player, Heath Farwell, for the year. He's also their top backup LB. Backup DE, Brian Robison, is iffy for the opener. Hopefully, both teams can stay away from any more serious injuries.
The Minnesota Vikings, who finished last in 2007 in pass coverage, were counting on free-agent acquisition Madieu Williams to help change that in 2008 from his safety position.
Now, however, they'll reportedly have to wait a while for him to make an impact. The Star Tribune, citing unnamed sources, reported Tuesday that Williams will miss at least six weeks with an undisclosed neck injury."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. Yeah, I'm thankful they used their top pick this year on a safety. Johnson played in the first preseason game and will quite a bit from here on out. Hope he is ready for the challenge. At least Robison may be back for the opener, he's sure he will but you never know. They also lost DE Mitchell for the year.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersWe've had a ton of nagging injuries, but it looks like the Vikings are getting hit pretty hard with injuries. Interesting thread. It seems as though we have some similarities when it comes to QB play. T Jack looked good on Friday. One could make the arguement that T jack looked better than A Rod.
Personally I feel they looked about the same. They both came out firing (Jackson had almost as many pass attempts in one game than he did all pre season last year) and it was obvious the HC's wanted to see what they had. The one knock on Rodgers was that he was sacked twice and roughed up a bit too, T Jack was not touched Friday.Minnesota Vikings
