  • I thought it was poetic justice that after everything that we've gone through these past 2 seasons that his season ended exactly the same for the Vikings as it did for the Packers.

In all fairness to Brett, however, I thought he laid it all on the field tonight. It would have been tough for any QB to overcome that many turnovers and win a game against a championship caliber football team. As critical as Favre was to tonight's loss for the Vikings, I thought he was just as critical to the Vikings being in the game in the first place. It was an admirable performace.

I have been telling everyone that he would pull that INT out at the very worst time all year. He finally did it and it did not dissapoint. Lets face it. He put up impressive numbers year after year for the most part, but in the last decade of play, he ALWAYS screwed the pooch when it really mattered.
Ty was torn actually. Couldn't determine when he would fuck up..this game or the SB.

Kinda glad it was this game. More enjoyable knowing Favre missed out on a media dicksucking favre lovefest. You know that is killing him.

But, Ty is sure that Favre, if he decides to come back, will be even more focused and determined. Ty expects him start throwing balls to high schoolers in early July this year.
Well, that is the Viqueens problem now. We have our guy and He will be around to help our team from the onset of off season activities. Favre will hold the Queens hostage all off season and probably demand to be taken back one week before the regular season starts.
Yeah, it would suck being a Vikes fan right now.

Knowing that bert has "retired" twice, 2 years in a row..can you believe a word outta his mouth?

You know, manipulating the system twice to get what he wanted rather than just honoring the contract he signed a long time ago. Retiring to get released, just to get out of a contract that stipulates where he was to play (and was NOT to play). Going on national TV to throw a hissy fit. That's no way to handle a problem, and I'm just glad to see that all that trouble he went through to spite his contract and our franchise has brought him to the exact same place he was before he left.

He wasn't supposed to be a Viking. Ever. Even if that's what he wanted most. His contract said he was a Packer, and when traded to the Jets that agreement stated that he would not be a Viking. His manipulation of that is what is most bothersome to me. I don't have what I want most, either, but whenever I complain about it all I hear is how life isn't fair. It's comforting to see that life isn't always any more fair when you cause a fuss and manipulate the system.

Life isn't fair. But, Ty will admit that even with this loss Bert still raked in a cool 12 mill and has a pretty hot wife. One can only hope life is treating you as well when it isn't fair with you.

                        2. Favre not running to get his team 5 more yards cost the team the game
It's one of the things that cost the team the game, but on the whole I want to say that you bring up a good point. The crazy dumb interceptions are more fun to talk about, but Favre's reluctance to run even when he's got an open field has cost his teams the last few years. I'm talking about the ones where there's a pretty open field yet Favre throws it five or ten yards anyway, at key times when a first down is needed. I don't know that it was the only mistake anyone made - that is, it's hard to say that only one play cost anyone any game - but I think it's an astute point about Favre's reluctance to run the past few years, Bretsky.

                        • Favre has thrown 30 interceptions in the playoffs.
A list of Brett Favre's top five playoff meltdowns as compiled by Don Gulbrandsen, author and manager editor of Triumph Books, and Ross Bernstein, author of I Love Brett Favre, I Hate Brett Favre.

                          1. The Ugly End

                          Date: Jan. 20, 2008

                          Score: Giants 23, Packers 20

Why It Mattered: On a frigid night in Green Bay and with a Super Bowl berth on the line, Favre faded badly in the second half of the NFC Championship game. He ended his Packer career with an ugly overtime interception to Corey Webster that the Giants converted into the game-winning field goal. Favre said good-bye to Green Bay looking old, cold, and indifferent.

                          2. QB Matchup Meltdown

                          Date: Jan. 21, 2002

                          Score: Rams 45, Packers 17

Why It Mattered: The hype for the "Brett Favre vs. Kurt Warner" showdown in the NFC playoffs was huge, but Favre delivered one of the worst postseason quarterback performances in history, tossing six interceptions with two returned for touchdowns.

                          3. Humiliated by the Vikes

                          Date: Jan. 9, 2005

                          Score: Vikings 31, Packers 17

Why It Mattered: Minnesota visited Lambeau Field as a lightly regarded, 8-8 Wild Card team. The Packers were division champs on a late season roll. Favre responded with yet another playoff stinker, throwing four interceptions. The bad taste of this game carried over into a disastrous 2005 and led to the firing of coach Mike Sherman.

                          4. Outplayed by Michael Vick

                          Date: Jan. 4, 2003

                          Score: Falcons 27, Packers 7

Why It Mattered: As NFC North champs, the Packers were a big favorite going into this Wild Card matchup. Green Bay never got on track offensively, Atlanta jumped out to a big lead, and Favre killed any second half comeback attempt with poor play—a lost fumble and an interception in Green Bay's first home playoff loss in history.

                          5. Gift Pick for the Eagles

                          Date: Jan. 11, 2004

                          Score: Eagles 20, Packers 17

Why It Mattered: Favre led Green Bay to a first-quarter advantage in this NFC playoff contest, then seemingly disappeared for the rest of the game. Handed a chance to win in overtime, Favre heaved an ill-advised pass into the hands of Philly's Brian Dawkins. The Eagles converted the pick into the game-winning field goal.

Given his long record of playoff futility, does anyone seriously expect this leopard to change his stripes?

ESPN's Mike and Mike certainly do not. Never known as Saints believers, both Mikes predicted a New Orleans victory, expressing doubts about the Vikings' ability to stop the Saints' underrated running game.

They also expressed concern about Favre reverting to his old playoff meltdown ways.
                          Thanks Ted!

                          • Last time Favre was in the playoffs he had his biggest comeback ever (14 pts.) He followed that up with an abysmal performance in the cold where he looked like he really didn't want to be out there

This year he broke his single postseason record for TD's in a game (4) and followed that up with another of his classic playoff performances. Favre will possibly put you in a position to win, but rest assured that mother fucker WILL rip it away and stomp on your hearts at the same time.

I pissed off a lot of Viking fans at the Card/Vike game a month ago and told them just wait, when it matters most, he will destroy you. Well, fuckers look who's laughing now. I loved seeing Favre finally fuck up this season. For the most part he played within himself and took what he was given. But none of that matters when in the biggest game of the year you fuck something up in such an elementary fashion.

I may have said I was indifferent to Favre, but yesterday I still wanted to see that bastard fuck the game up and boy did he deliver! So will this bastard retire or will he come back. Who cares now because we get to laugh at the Vikings as they deal with it and be glad we've got a top 5 young QB for the next 10 years.

                            • I can take no true joy out of these playoffs. The sense of vindication from Brett's mistakes ending another team's season is shallow, short and cruel. And the Packer bowed out way too early.

But I am definitely looking forward to him coming back and kicking his hindquarters twice next year. I am not sure the Vikings offseason situation, but that team should contend again and I hope Brett comes back for that and does not remain satisfied just having beaten Ted. Mike and Aaron twice.
