Viking analysts have to be hard pressed to blame the loss on favre. yes, he made a bone headed play at the end, but it never should of came to that to begin with. It was one of those "you are just asking too much the guy" moments. You were already on the edge of FG range. Could of played it safe, ran the ball, and took a shot to win. They also should of never even had a pass play in mind if they didn't get the bone headed 12 man ont eh field mistake. Thats a pure coaching issue right there. Someone didn't have there crap straight on the sidelines.

Peterson really did his best to not just give away the game, but to cement the "we only can win if favre carries us" mentality. They tried to make it not be about brett, especially after he got hobbled, and they responded with fumble after fumble. Brett makes a nice play to berrian for a first down... fumble. Harvin runs... fumble. Peterson... what 3 charged fumbles, 4 in reality (the on on brett when peterson clamped his arms shut before he had the ball).

    Etc Etc.

Defense did noteably do it's thing in the 4th. I will give them credit. But man, as the game drug on it became more and more that the vikings need a Favre like player to go anywhere. They really are going to be below average next season without the guy. He was a warrior today, even with the mistake at the end.

It just feels different then in 2007. Not sure why exactly, but Favre had so much on his shoulders this game it's unbelievable. He was getting pounded and pounded all game, got hurt, kept getting up., Tried to recover fumbles, kept making plays and sustaining drives only to see them fumbled away. It was just hard to watch.

If favre retires, I think the packers win the division next year uncontested.

He had a great year, he was a good teammate, and in a short while he will no longer be a Viking nor will he ever play this game again.

The Brett Favre story is the closest thing to a Greek tragedy ever to be written upon the green pages of NFL history.
Nice post. It sure felt that way.

why are they ripping AP ? Don't understand ? Was he the guy who was not suppose to be in the huddle ???
He put it on the ground 3 times.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

They are stating that AP's fumbles were terribly costly. Plus the Keystone Kops organization from the sidelines getting the 12 man in the huddle penalty.

Listening to Favre's press conference he's delusional. He says he's going out on top. Maybe in stats, undoubtedly. The games like this, the NFCC vs. NYG, the Philly game..... I do remember the Detroit wild card game in Pontiac, and his SB XXXI performance. He was great, no doubt but not on top.

          • packerbacker, Favre had a 100 yard rusher. Favre was responsible for half of the turn overs. My gosh, he's had a damn fine career and a great year, but he was just one of many great players on the field today, you just can't see it in the other players because you tear them down to prop up your guy.

                1. Who was responsible for the 12 men on the field ?

                2. Favre not running to get his team 5 more yards cost the team the game

He said he will go back and think about it.
