  • Who wins between the Vikings and the Saints? The answer is obvious.

    The Saints will win.

All we've heard for 18 years is that Brett Favre doesn't play well in domes. Why is everybody being stupid?

          • Maybe you all bitched about Brett for nothing. It was quite apparent that he hates the Vikes so much he had to lead them to the nfcc and then rip their hearts out! :P

              • For those who have been hating: Grats on your poetic justice. May have ended his career with the vikes the same way he did with the pack.

For those of us who were still rooting for the guy: Tough loss. Favre showed a lot of guts, but at the end of regulation he couldn't help but be Brett. If he comes back next year, the vikes are pretty much just as good as they were today. Lots of loose balls, calls not going there way, and Brett having to be in the position to make the play he did to end it (maybe chilly runs it next time).

Great game, great career for #4. I do hope he comes back, as he is fun as hell to watch, but as a packers fan I hope he does not. He is the only thing standing between us as the NFC North champs next season. Hell of player, electric on the field, heart, grit, etc etc. However, the packers are better off if he retires so in the end I hope he does. If he does not, I'll enjoy another year getting to watch him, and hopefully a shot for the packers to win the division with him in it.

                • Favre is a damn good player, still is. He's taking such a toll on his body though. His ankle has been bad for years. Dick Butkis did this with the Bears he played until his knees were bone on bone and then he played some more. I think Brett's ankle is getting that way. Plus, I think most people know the Packers are on the rise.

I think this was the Vikings best shot, I think Brett knows that. I think next year (with or without Brett) is going to be a tougher division (starting with the Packers). I don't see him coming back. This was the chance he was hoping for and now, I think he has no hope. I think he'll accept that it's over.

He really was. He just kept getting pounded, watched his offense fall apart around him, tried his best to keep his team in the game by getting into the fumble piles even after hurting his ankle, he made good plays, bad plays, and it was an emotional rollercoaster for me of not wanting to see the vikings in the Super Bowl, and my amazement at what Favre was doing for that team. He carried them, and in the end it just seemed to be too much.

                            • Packerbacker, Favre did not carry them. He had 1 TD and two picks. He missed a handful of moderate skill level passes that could have changed the game. He was responsible for one lost fumble. He looked, physically, like he was barely keeping it together. He looked like a damn good player and a damn old player at the same time.

He wasn't the whole reason they lost, but he didn't carry them, only to be let down by everyone around him like the legend goes. That's the #1 reason I'm glad he's gone. When we win now, it's not about Rodgers carrying the whole team. When we lose, it's not about all of our guys being shit except for Rodgers. Unlike the past, we're a team now.

                              • For a guy missing three feet of intestines Favre sure has a lot of guts. Every time he took another hit and got up my heart was less hardened toward him.

He had a great year, he was a good teammate, and in a short while he will no longer be a Viking nor will he ever play this game again.

The Brett Favre story is the closest thing to a Greek tragedy ever to be written upon the green pages of NFL history.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.
