I didn't really think Bell's coverage was that bad. He had pretty good position, but it was a perfect pass. Too bad Ben had enough time to find him.
It was good coverage. Wonder why they decided to leave Bell in single coverage? Ben had that extra time because Jolly was grossly held. Oh well.

Gotta hand it to the Steelers for that onside kick try. It ultimately gave them enough time on the clock to drive the whole field - good call!
    Nice spin, Ari Fleischer!

      Wild Card - Two Clubs
      1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
      2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
      3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
      4. Strength of victory.
      5. Strength of schedule.
      6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
      7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
      8. Best net points in conference games.
      9. Best net points in all games.
      10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
      11. Coin toss.

49ers, with their loss are out. Falcons are out. It's just the GMen, Philly, Dallas and us for 3 spots. One of the other 3 will get the NFC East. We need to take care of business vs. Seattle.
giants play the skins tomorrow and should win easily. then they have the panthers who is also very beatable. then they end the season against the vikings. the queens will have things all locked up and should be resting their guys by then. giants could run the table

we have to win next week against the seahawks, we absolutely have to, because i don't know if we beat the cardinals the following week

sorry, but if we don't get things straightened out fast arizona is gonna light us up in two weeks

steelers just exposed a giant weakness. our coverage sucks. we have one great CB, one decent one in t-will. then guys that have no right being in the nfl

if we're only gonna rush three then teams will kill us through the air
        Rushing three!!!

        What was that all about?

Unless I'm wrong, this is the second time this year a team drove down the field with a free pass and beat us.

        Very frustrating.
It's much easier to defend against three when you are allowed to hold. Jolly was grossly held on the final pass. Refs called everything else on that final drive; should have called that.
I don't think we should ever been in that position. We put the game in the hands of the refs, we're done.

This was the kind of game where the team that had the ball last wins. Rush #7 with a ton of people and only good things can happen. If they score quick, at least you got a chance to come back with a kick to win.

Allowing any NFL QB to stand back there with all the time in the world to throw is suicide, especially on that field. Rothloesberger was accurate all day. So we give him the ball, all the time in the world and say "Beat us."

        I just don't get it.
The refs can decide what to call and not to call. Chillar's penalty could have been let go to - it was just a hair over five yards downfield. When you get a close game like this though, it's easy to find all sorts of ways it could have turned. It's amazing how many things went exactly right for the Steelers on that final play. The throw was just perfect, the two toes were just down long enough - Bell had his hand in there but just didn't get any wiggle, Jolly was held just enough to prevent him from altering the throw. Amazing. Bet we could commiserate with the Cards about this shit.

The Skins are a better team than their record indicates. Lots of close losses. Panthers are the same way. They end the season against the Vikes and will everything locked up, but so will the Cardinals.

I was listening to the radio broadcast on the Internet and following the CBS Sportsline game tracker--you would be amazed how many fansthere on the live blog wrote that he should be fired for that--the year after winning the Super Bowl! Even worse, several of them went racist on him, saying things what a "stupid N----" he was and "this is what happens when you hire N----s"--yipes. mad at the coach is one thing, but some folks went way off the deep end.

Well, if I recall right, the penalty helped make the play because Hines Ward flat out was knocked the the ground. He might well have been able to break up the play otherwise.

Probably not. It was a gimmee. Chillar tipped it into the air. I could have caught it.....ok, maybe not.

                            My biggest beef is strategery.

We can't control the refs, but we can control how we approach the game.

Our offensive strategy was basically drop back 5 steps and either throw while your backpeddling or set yourself if you can and heave it downfield.

Our defensive strategy was cover their guys up, let Big Ben have time and see if he can beat you.

                            How did that work out?

Time of Pos.: Green Bay - 24:38/ Pittsburgh - 35:22

Only because GB is more talented on offense was the game even close.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                            • We are Al Harris away from being really scary. With Bush or Bell we are going to be vulnerable if our pass rush doesn't get home the rest of the year.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

                              • 3 penalties by the defense killed them on that drive, nothing else. They had them stopped twice, then penalty. In a strange way, if Jones falls down at the one on his TD catch like Maurice Jones Drew did, we might have won that game.

Great game, it was fantastic to see them come back. Loved the Grant run (his vision seems to have improved of all things), Rodgers run TD and the throw to Finley for a TD was a thing of beauty. Also great throws and catches to Nelson and Jones.

I forgive Lee for what I thought was a drop wide open in the middle of the field, leading to an unfortunate oath to find him and ask him to leave the team. The ball had bounced off the defender's pads.

We all knew the D was going to take time. We are still lacking pass rush. They will get better and better.
