  • Our DL and Edge players are bigger and better than Atlanta. So Minny isn’t going to rack up hundreds of rushing yards. Also, our pass rush is really good so as soon as they get a penalty or misstep, we’re gonna get pressure on those long down and distances and get off the field. I expect a mostly defensive match with home field hopefully making the difference and buying is another week to keep evolving the offense.

    • Rewatching the game, I missed how much Montravious Adams hustled to the ball. It was encouraging. He made some plays too. I think the coaches were right about him taking the jump this year.

Looked fast too. Faster than most DL, which makes sense cuz he ran 4.86 coming out and he’s in much better shape now. So kind of an uncommon athlete at 300 pounds. Might even run in the 4.7s now, with all the running he said he did in the offseason.

        • I would be more impressed if he was hustling to the ball on their side of the LOS. But he has definitely improved. He is a true one gap kinda guy, but he did show better anchor on doubles.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

He plays 5t quite a bit here. With our edge players sometimes stunting inside, and sometimes taking big risks up field with pass rushes, it’s a luxury to have a DE who runs 4.8 and can chase laterally. Once that edge player commits to abandoning the edge, the DE is the last defense to protect that part of the field. Like I said, it’s a luxury and an advantage to have an athlete like Mon there so our OLBs can take risks.

If they stay the same as last year, I’m guessing mediocre again.

Tex you pointed out their lack of talent at WR relative to MN. Do you take that back?
You're saying I should take back saying the Bears WR talent is less than the Vikings? Because they were 9th in points scored passing? Uh, no. I still think it's patently obvious that the Viking wideouts - and TE too - are way better than the Bears. You didn't say where the Vikings offense ranked in points and yardage, but even if they were behind the Bears, it is what it is. Maybe Trubisky > Cousins is an explanation.

                A Cletidus Hunt-style contract push?

As for the coach, he is, to me, Matt TheFlower.

You made the argument that people are saying the Bears are worse now that the Packers beat them. I’m saying we knew that they weren’t all that good all along. No one thought they had a great offense. Despite any running Truby does, he’s still a marginal QB that needs a defense to win games for him. The difference is this year that the Packers defense obviously improved (three free agents, basically 2-3 other new starters depending on how you look at injured returning. Their two huge holes at safety and pass rush have been overwhelmingly addressed). But your dumb argument about people downgrading the Bears just because they lost to the Packers remains just that - dumb. By your own arguments.

Just because you and/or whoever says it doesn't make Trubisky a bad QB. Ditto that for Dak Prescott, who some in here (not necessarily you) have disparaged.

My point was the hypocrisy of people (not necessarily you) who were building up the Bears as such a super team that we had no chance against BEFORE we beat them, then suddenly turning it all around to "oh, the Packers can beat them, so they must not be much of a team" AFTER the game. There are some people (not necessarily you) who are just so damn scared to be labeled "homers" that they display that kind of bullshit mentality.

Those changes moved our D from sad sack to among the very best in the NFL. That plus a healthy Aaron Rodgers and improvement albeit without personnel changes in our receivers make the Packers a top tier offensive team also - despite the mediocre O Line and the silliness of this run first crap which I assume LaFleur will persist in pushing. The bottom line about that is that as long as we keep winning - even games that are a lot closer than they should be - by wasting a bunch of downs running, they're gonna stubbornly do that, and I can live with that - a win is a win is a win. But one of these weeks, we undoubtedly will need Aaron Rodgers to revert to what the detractors are so disapproving of, and take over the game and win it with a massive pass first comeback. And some fools (not necessarily you) will probably still piss and moan hahahaha.

How am I doing with the pounding, RG? hahahahahaha

                          • the experimental, "work-in-progress", O looked like crap all game long. it was the bears' D, and they gave the Packers fits, but rodgers didn't have a good throw all night. too low, too high, behind, ahead, floaters, and a prayer that was caught by graham for a td. held the ball too long, didn't set his feet. the O looked like it hadn't had a snap in anger all preseason. oh...wait!
thank petine and gute for the D that looked very good. penalties were a problem for both teams especially the bears. MLF's decision to run on 3rd down late when they needed a first down thankfully didn't come back to bite them. scott is an all-pro lol. special teams looked great. no running game but again that bear front 7 is very tough.
an unexpected W is always the sweetest. 1-0!!

                              No preseason, no problem:

                              Philip Rivers 11-of-17, 117 yards, 2 TDs
Keenan Allen 4 rec, 58 yards, 1 TD

                              Chargers 17-6 at the half.

                              • i wondered if guys weren't getting open or was rodgers ignoring open guys again. ben fennell's film breakdown confirmed the latter. rodgers has to get past his old habits and give the new O a chance. run it as it's designed, abandon the rodgers hybrid version, and get on with it...before it's too late.
