    Says this about Gannon:

"He has late game issues - Criticized for limited in-game adjustments, especially protecting leads."

The 2022 Eagles were 1st in defensive DVOA and 1st in pass defense DVOA by a MILE.

In fact, by DVOA, they were more than twice as good (efficiency adjusted for opponent) as the 2nd-best group.

NIce job FLOWER; now just go ahead and annouce the other clods are you keeping while candidates better than our staff are getting hired

As a DC with the Eagles for two years, he had a top 10 defense both years. You could also argue the Eagles had some hosses on D too.

As for the argument when he was a HC and his defense wasn't good - Look at what he had to work with as far as defensive players on the Cardinals roster.

I don't think he called the defense when he was a head coach for the Cardinals. Who knows what will happen, but I don't think it's doom and gloom.

He had some pretty amazing talent in Phily on defense. So if you are going to use the talent argument for him in AZ I'd say the elits talent in Phily allowed him to do what he did, albeit for just two years

Very interesting hire by the Packers. I always enjoyed watching that 2022 defense play — they were the best Quarters team in the league that year, in my opinion. Super sound in coverage for 95% of the season. Gannon is a very big believer in the Aranda/Roberts approach to defense and, from a purely theoretical perspective, he is really forward-thinking with great ideas. If he brings Rallis with him as LB coach, I’d like the hire that much more.

Gannon took a big leap as a play caller from 2021 to 2022, so it’ll be interesting to see how that works out after three seasons without it. What really excites me most is the potential for Micah Parsons’ production.

It’s difficult to know what type of defense Gannon will be coaching in Green Bay, considering how different his Eagles and Cardinals defenses were. With Philadelphia, he mostly played four-down (4-3 or nickel defense) looks with match-quarters coverage (think Fangio or Barry). In Arizona, the defense was a 3-4 base that relied on a lot of simulated pressures (think Ravens tree). We probably won’t get a strong indication for what Gannon is going to run with the Packers until someone, be it him or LaFleur, tells us in a press conference.

LaFleur worried of hiring a fan favorite as we’d be calling for his promotion mid season.

Arizona lost multiple games in the final half of the 4th quarter. He wasn't calling the defense, but he was a terrible game manager.

                        Let's hope he's a better DC

This was clearly MiLFs choice. He needed only 12 hours or so to be allowed to interview Leonhard so clearly he didn't intend to hire him. Or Leonhard told him to fuck himself. He had a shot at Parker and didn't hire him. This was his choice.

The least inspired choice I can think of beside Al Harris on the list.

The best thing on his resume is a Super Bowl appearance with a stacked D with which he didn’t deliver a win.

I can’t believe coaches are still going with “this guys defense gave us trouble last we saw it” test. Hafley was chosen in part by his agreeing to run the cover 3 and I wonder if this is similar. Can only hope to get as good a result.

                            Just disappointing.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Gannon's 2022 Philly defense led the NFL with 69 sacks. Thet had 4 guys with double digit sacks, but also had 13 guys with at least 1 sack.
But that is a measure of how stacked that front was. I’m not sure it was scheme.

I can’t hold the support he’d get as a member of the Cardinal organization (non existent) but that Eagles D was loaded on the line.
