  • McCarthy = Sherman?

    McCarthy = Sherman?

What made Belichick the guy he is now? He bounced around working under great minds like Parcels but eventually became a defensive guru. What makes a Belichick defense special isn't anything schematic. His x's and o's aren't revolutionary but his methods of preparation and ability to design a game plan made him special. Belichick runs a true multiple front defense and practically invented the concept of switching you scheme every week to best stop the opposition. The versatility is amazing. McC...

  • Playoff Probabilities

    Playoff Probabilities

Interesting read. If we go 3-3 and finish at 10-6, there's a 40% chance that we won't make the playoffs. If we go 4-2 and finish at 11-5, there's a 97% chance that we will make the playoffs.

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/packerswhatif.html Interestingly, we have a higher probability of making the playoffs than the Bears (despite them holding the tiebreaker at the moment)--in large part because we play them at home and are probably favored to switch that home field advantage. ...

The Official FIRE SHAWN SLOCUM thread

Look, I hate the job Slocum has done more than anyone, especially the way he has discouraged Crosby and the kickers from working with specialists. But honestly, with all the injuries the Pack has endured, Slocum has had to be a magician this year, and unfortunately, he ain't that. My guess is that he hasn't had an intact kick or punt return unit for more than three games in a row. I'm on board for firing the guy, but it's for reasons much deeper than his ability to get decent coverage on the ...

    Atlanta Week Talk

Where we begin to roll over teams? We are 2-1 against teams with winning records... and if you look at the 2 wins, we hardly rolled over any team. Have you looked at the second half the season? After an 8-2 atlanta team we play ont he road where Matt Ryan has only lost one time in his career, we have two very winnable games before a very hard final stretch. We got TO New England, Then play the Giants, and end it off with the bears. Counting this week, that is 4 games we could very well lose out of...

  • FRANKENBACKER!!!

    FRANKENBACKER!!!

The dude (Spencer Havner) whom we fans have adopted the nickname "FrankenBacker" is back with The Pack. He's a fan favorite because he plays multiple positions everywhere on the team: Tight End, Fullback, Linebacker, and of course - Special Teams. His hard core off-season training regiment included late night motorcycle stunts on private property while drinking booze. I for one am glad that we brought him back after we lost him to The Loins for a bit 'till he pulled his hammy. The dude...

Studs and Duds - Week 10

    Studs:

The training staff - The guys have been busy all week. They added an additional 3 treatment slots to get all 53 Packers (that aren't on the IR) to at least Probable status for next weeks game against the Vikings!

    Duds:

TT- He had a whole week to evaluate all possible street free agents and all he could sign was a washed up vet cut by the Lions in Spencer Havner!!

Stick a Fork in That Piece of Toast: Vikings 2010

I normally hesitate to make such bold pronouncements (well, let's pretend I do) - football is such a funny game it's hard to say what will happen - but in this case it's hard to see the Vikings turning this around. I attribute this largely to the locker room dissension. Less than a week after spewing about Chilly to the Chicago Sun Times, and saying they weren't going to lay down, the quotes in today's Minneapolis Star Trib suggest that the players felt not enough effort was given at certain ...

  • New NFL Kickoff Rule Adopted
    by Joemailman
It passed 29-3. Packers were one of 3 teams voting against it.

Kickoffs will remain at the 35-yard line, but the remaining 10 players on the kicking unit will line up at the opposing team's 40-yard line. The receiving team lines up with at least seven players in the "set-up zone," a five-yard area between their own 35- and 30-yard lines, with a maximum of two returners can line up in the landing zone. After the ball is kicked, the kicker cannot cross the 50-yard line and the 10 ...

  • The Lions Report
    by Fritz
Well, this is the year - or so 99% of the fans in Detroit think - that the Lions get a big, meaningful "W" on Thanksgiving Day. Many many talking heads have reminded folks that this is reminiscent of the 1962 Turkey Day game - the 10 - 0 Packers coming in to town - and in that game the Lions' defensive line, lead by Alex Karras, shredded the Packer offensive line, dumping Bart Starr over and over and leading the Leos to a whupping of the Pack. The Lions feature a talented, deep defensive line. Ndama...
