But rooting for the Vikings is a bridge too far - for me. Favre is clearly out to prove something, and that - plus being on a very good team - has given him an MVP level season. Read the post by Howard - I think it's pretty close to the mark. So, Good Luck to Favre, but I hope the Vikings get obliterated.

Push the baggage aside baby..........cheer for history in the making! :P

Yes, Howard had a great post. I chuckled through some parts....esp. "The classic lose 25 pounds and get a new haircut after you break up. It gave him new life and he wanted to prance past the old girlfriend with his new hot gal too, so there was plenty of incentive."

    Too funny!!

Love or hate the guy, I think everyone can admit this is a great story.

I am. I'm rooting for the Saints to reach thier first ever Super Bowl game. After everything that city has been through recently, and in admiring the Saints journey to become one of the league's elite, I think the Saints earning thier first ever Super Bowl berth would make for the better story.

        • It took that assclown going to 2 different teams - for me to realize just how sick and tired fans of other teams are of the constant sappy blow job he gets from the media.

Quit the 007 bash. Attack Favre all you want. He made his bed, he can lie in it.

As I said several times recently in this thread, there should be no problem with any criticizm, deification, hatred, support, anger, loyalty, frustration, admiration, or anything else related to Favre. As long as it's kept to Favre. As long as it doesn't spill over to attacks on the poster, there's nothing wrong.

Fuck Favre. Fuck the team he plays for. That's how I feel, but I have no qualms with any of Favre's supporters. Do what you do.

Why wouldn't he just admit he hated the cold? Because the iron man doesn't want to look like a wuss.

So he went to the jets then and played in teh cold.
He was pretty much stuck at that point and he sure seemed to hate it there once the weather turned, yet again. If we send him to Tampa, are we in this mess? Maybe he enjoys a life of warm football, shuffleboard tourneys, and 4 pm buffet dinners. The world may never know.

Why does he seem better now then he was for us? Something happened between 2007-present. He had a wakeup call. He never really ahd a coach in GB, since Holgrem that could control him. He still doesn't. Favre needed to learn to control himself, but in GB he never had a reason. He could always point at something else. In 2007 he took a lot of blame for the playoff loss, and may have been why he retired. He was playing pretty damn well in 2008 but then had a throwing arm injury.

Thing is, he finally got himself under control. At this point it's too late for nay coach to try adn control brett, but somethign between his last two seasons made him realize he only needed to control himself. He even doubted if he could last the full year this year. He believes in himself, and as good as Green was he was not an Adrian Peterson.

Favre needed holgrem for a few more seasons, and intead he got coaches in the 2000's that were too afraid to challenge him. At least chilly this year had the balls to say something to prevent him from getting hurt, even if it was a bone headed coaching. Sherman never did shit to Brett, and MM was sort of TT in the "Brett's great, he does his thing" bandwagon in trying to
                move on to AR.
One of the major factors stated in his coming back is that the Vikings schedule had a lot of indoor games. And all 4 losses have been on grass.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

                  • Well this sure will be an interesting weekend. I didn't think Favre and the Vikes were gonna win last week. I thought Dallas was too hot, but they crumbled under the pressure. Keys for the Vikings and Favre will be if the Vikings stop the run, and the Vikings get their running game started early and often and kill the crowd.

And it really isn't that hard to root for the Vikings.

I thought Dallas was hot, but I didn't think they'd win. Not because of #4, but because Romo just isn't a winner. Can't win in the playoffs. I don't know if he's not focused (at least on football) or what. Overrated.

                          • Whatever happens I think I want Favre to come back next year. I'd like to see another couple of Favre vs. Pack games. I think they'd be closer after the Packers grow into their big boy shoes and they'd probably split the pair.

But you've already admitted that 1) you're rooting for Favre and that 2) You wanted the Vikings to beat the Packers. So, since you aren't a Packer fan, have resentment towards the Packer org because of how they treated Favre, of course it wouldn't be hard to root for the Vikings to win. Tell us something we don't know. It's very hard for lifelong Packer fans (I would say virtually impossible) to root for the Vikings for true.

I'm now convinced that the Vikings are going to win the superbowl, just because it will annoy the hell out of me, but I'm still holding out hope that N.O. or (probably) the Colts will beat the living shit out of them.

I'd like the Packers to get two more shots at beating the Vikings with Favre
