This comes back to Patler's point that Favre has changed this year as a teammate and as a player. Accounts before this year were that Favre had grown apart from his teammates but this year he seems to be reaching out more.
The only thing I agree with is that he changed as far as not taking so many risks (interceptions). Who knows what the reason for that is. Could be he was humbled when Packers didn't want him anymore and things didn't work out with the Jets. Could be he didn't feel he had to take a team on his shoulders this year. Who knows????

As far as "accounts" that he had grown apart from teammates??? Good Lord, who knows where that came from? Did it originally start from a disgruntled Packer fan? Kinda weird those rumors were out when he was still celebrating with his teammates the way he used to. When is the last time you saw someone that is isolating themselves throwing a teammate over his back and running to the sideline?

Bad teammate....isolating....growing apart from the team? I see that as more TO behavior. I don't recall anything we, as Packer fans, saw any evidence of this. I think it was rumor that made people feel better about his leaving.

          Correction:

Jets - Bert = AFC championship game
          And

Vikings + Favre = NFC Championship Game
          Vikings + Tjack = Playoffs

Favre + Jets = Sitting at home

Ah, here I thought you were talking present tense...so I thought I'd add the other facts that you left out.

But this year....You have no idea...well perhaps you do know

..that a healthy Favre with the Jets this year and Rex Ryan would be sitting at home.....and the Vikes plus TJack would be in the playoffs........but like I said.......maybe you do know circumstances
Yes. It would be interesting to see what a healthy Bert woulda done with Ryan. It isn't like he had the opportunity to play for him...or did he?

Talk about stepping in it.......make sure you wipe your shoes before you walk into your house..or mrs. bretsky is gonna kill you.

Rookie QB + Jets > Favre + Jets

Rex didn't want Favre back from the start; and I hardly blame him the way it ended there.

Now in your last comparison...there you go making those assumptions that you know it all again.....or maybe you do.

          Different Roster
          Different Coach
          Different Circumstances
          Rex didn't want him back?

“Anybody would want Brett Favre to be their quarterback,” Ryan said. “Not just me, but anybody. All that stuff we’ll get into later. I haven’t talked to Brett or anything yet. We’ll see how he’s feeling.”

“I know the respect that I have for Brett Favre is great and just comes from first-hand info. I’ve seen him up close and personal, and that’s enough for me.”

Ryan said he would rather play with Bert than against him. Kept BS as OC...to preserve continuity.

Care to point out where ryan said he didn't want him. Woody stated he wanted him back. Ryan stated he wanted him. Poor Bert...TT, MM, and now ryan didn't want him.

Bert had his opportunity to play for Ryan..and he PASSED. He didn't try. He didn't ask for a trade. HE RETIRED. Let's hear the excuses.

"When you reach a certain stage of life, you have to have your body in shape," Ryan said. "I think the offseason is huge."

Perhaps it was ryan's statements on the offseason that led to Bert deciding to retire. LOL

The facts are the facts. Jets + rookie QB = Playoffs.

Bert + Jets = No playoffs.

You can use the mouthlanguage provided by Ryan all you want. ESPN radio is really the source for my beliefs and they noted Ryan made very little effort to contact Favre to note coaches interest in him coming back. Hardly a reliable source...neither is coaches language.

          Facts are facts

Brett + Jets LAST YEAR = No Playoffs
Jets + Rookie QB THIS YEAR = Playoffs
          Vikes/Jackson LAST YEAR = Playoffs
Brett + Vikes this year = NFC Title Game

Sorry, but you just refuse to accept reality.

Bert had isolated himself. He had his own area in the lockerroom..apart from the team.

Bert had noted that he had few friends on the team...as he was older, etc.

Don't know if that makes him a bad teammate..but, it certainly doesn't make him a good one.

Celebrating on the field is no indication of his relationship with the TEAM. It represents at best his relationship with that player. Plenty of teams have had terrible relationships that were not apparent on the field.

Favre did seem to indicate that his relationship with his teammates wasn't quite the same when he spoke in his retirement press conference:

I think here in the last couple of years, that's where I've noticed, in my case, things maybe changing a little bit. You can credit it to age or whatever, but I was never really a vocal person. That hasn't changed. I always enjoyed playing the game and having fun and cracking up and things like that and I didn't do that as much. I maybe was not as good a teammate from that standpoint as I once was. Not to get away from your question, but I think that had some bearing on my decision as well.

I really think that in some ways Chilly has been able to keep Favre under control. Example, at the end of the half the Vikes have 2 minutes to try and move the ball. They run twice and Dallas calls timeouts, then they get a first down to the 24. They still don't try to score. To me this appears that Chilly is doing everything in his power (mainly playcalling) to keep Favre from starting to wing it around. Favre threw very few passes Sunday, Chilly wants it that way.

this is so great. Give Bert time...wrong thing to do. Contact him and find out what he is thinking..wrong thing to do.

Thomas Jones, for one, called Favre out.

And another Jets player who chose not to be named:
The 39-year-old quarterback is not as welcome with his teammates, according to this veteran. After the Jets traded for Favre Aug. 6, the sure Hall of Famer made no effort to ingratiate himself with the already assembled team, the veteran said. He said Favre spent most of his down time at the practice facility in an office specially designated for him near the equipment room, not with teammates in the locker room, even after the media departed.

"He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone," the player said. Asked to describe Favre in a word, he said: "Distant."
                          Hardly disgruntled Packers fans.

If I search, I might also be able to find the interview with James Jones about how intimidating Favre was when he first came to the Packers: fairly distant off the field and hardly taking the young receiver under his wing to do film study. It wasn't stating that Favre was a bad guy, just like he didn't make a lot of effort to connect to the younger guys off of the field and that it was up to them to get to know Favre.

Even current teammate Ray Edwards had some harsh words for Favre due to Favre's recent history of dressing in his own area.

So I don't think it's some wild conspiracy generated by disgruntled Packers fans. It is a pretty well-supported point of view. And, for the record, I think that the stories Mobb provides us about him actually reaching out to teammates his "Pants on the Ground" chant are great. It shows me that maybe he's regained what made him such a great player and teammate after going through a rough patch.

Yes because that's the only change in the Jets org this year.

If Rodgers keeps playing the way he has been that stat will be close to last years. Granted the line isn't great, but great QB's find a way to win.

Classic. Words from Ryan mean less than talking heads from espn.

contacting him? Ryan said he was giving him time..isn't that what Bert always wanted after the season..time to think about returning. Wasn't there criticism of TT for forcing Bert to make a decision?

Ryan also said he was contacting players alphabetically.

this is so great. Give Bert time...wrong thing to do. Contact him and find out what he is thinking..wrong thing to do.

This is your best one yet. The owner and ryan publicly laud Bert..but, it means nothing. If they disparaged him..would that also mean very little.

Bert + Jets = No playoffs.
Rookie Qb + Jets = Playoffs

Jets in the championship game > Vikes in Championship game.[/quote:74e6cbd0e4]

Ty is smart enough to know he could come up with numerous examples of coach spin talk if it fit his argument. Only Ty knows what means more or less. Ty knows Brett Favre needs to feel wanted and get his but kissed a bit to return but that does not fit your argument so choose the logic you want to use for your point. It really doesn't matter whether Ryan wanted Brett Favre back anyways. I'm done with this. As always you can now go ahead and make the last post so you have the last straw.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

One of my best friends was a huge Vikings fan and we used to have some great, pretty heated banter going on during games. Win or lose, it made the games more entertaining, ya know?

My boss, a bandwagon Vikings fan, knows that I'm a Packers fan and needles me all the time. I can't wait until the Packers are back on top so I can return the favor .

And the best part is it goes back and forth. One year the Packers are better, the next the Vikings. I'm glad that the Vikings are usually pretty good. That just makes it more entertaining.
